Background
Voss Kelgrim was born on the Zabrak homeworld of Iridonia. By the time he was 10 years old, both of his parents were dead due to the hostile nature of life on Iridonia. As a result Voss was left to fend for himself. In this, he seemed to excel, as he had a knack for getting people to do what he wanted in many different and sometimes not so obvious ways. In addition, he was very adept in all aspects of the martial training that all Iridionian Zabraks learn and was naturally very strong and athletic. By the time he was 15 he had decided to leave his homeworld and the bitter memories, and managed to stow away on a smuggler's ship that had made an emergency landing on the planet to make repairs. Unfortunately for Voss, the ship was seized by Imperial Customs, and the Imperials saw fit to send everyone on the ship as well as their cargo of spice back to Kessel.
The life expectancy in the mines of Kessel, for most beings, is two to three years, but even at 15, Voss had become formidable physically and had gotten even better at coercing people. Thus he survived for five years in the harshest of conditions Kessel had to offer. His ability to survive and in some ways thrive in that environment did not go unnoticed. After five years, Voss was befriended by a newly arrived human sporting a brown and grey beard and matching hair that only went by the name Kal. The human turned out to be the captain of a very large and very capable group of pirates and he had a plan to escape Kessel by way of one of his ships and some authorizations codes his crew had managed to steal. He saw potential in Voss and offered to take him along in his escape. Having nothing to give in return for the offer Voss was hesitant, but Kal simply told him that he could just owe him for now and they could figure it out when they got safely away from Kessel. Voss agreed, and after a few weeks and much preparation, Kal's crew showed up, managed to land using the stolen codes and pick up the pair and get out of the system without a hitch. However the ship was forced to land on Nar Kreeta soon after leaving Kessel due to some damaged sustained in transit, and authorities from Kessel were able to track them there. At this point Voss became separated from Kal and his crew and was forced to run or risk going back to the spice mines. He eventually found his way off of Nar Kreeta and to Nar Shaddaa, where he was easily able to survive.
He now hires himself out to whoever will utilize his services and abilities sometimes locally and sometimes offworld, usually dangerous. But always in the back of his mind is the massive favor that he will one day have to repay and what that might mean.
