Vekis Alateen grew up on Mantooine at war with the planet Fest. At 19 (living in a society sympathetic to the Rebellion) he left the Mantooine Navy to join the Mantooine Liberators, a local rebel cell (this was 6 BBY). During his years with them, he developed a moral code he called Co-D, as well as performing his deed of distinction. He quickly rose through the ranks to become second-in-command. When the captain died destroying the large and well-stocked Imperial base on the planet, he became Commander. The Liberators held the planet until later that year, when a huge Imperial force attacked the planet and destroyed the Liberators. The few survivors merged with rebel cell on Fest, having overcome their animosities due to a common enemy, the Empire. Vekis however, was not found among the wreckage and presumed dead. One Gand elder found and nursed him back to health, however as well as making him a janwuine.

Since then Vekis has been in hiding, punishing those who violate Co-D and seeking out potential Alliance members. After the Battle of Yavin, Vekis decided the time was right to join the fight again.

Belief (Honor): Vekis has a personal code of honor by which he lives. He sees the Empire as the antithesis of everything he stands for, and he will fight it to the end.

Belief (Justice): Vekis has a strong, unshakable sense of right and wrong, and he sees the injustices of Imperial rule throughout the galaxy. He is committed to seeing justice brought back to the galaxy, and he wishes those who have betrayed it to get the punishment they deserve.

Leadership and Direction-: All of the resources of the Rebellion; including people, gear, credits, and information; will do little good without planned and efficient direction and allocation. Vekis is driven to lead others to what will be the most likely path for the Rebellion to succeed and to make sure all resources are used in their best possible way.
