Background
L'chut was born on Lannik to a rather unremarkable family he has barely any memories of. As a child he was quickly located and brought into the Jedi Order, and he is told that his parents were ecstatic about their son becoming a Jedi. He worked hard as a youngling to prove himself and, though he never was the top of his clan in the academy he managed to demonstrate enough skill in the force and with the lightsaber to earn a position as a padawan for Master Hilo, a Cerean Jedi Master who spent most of his time away from the academy on the edge of the galaxy. L'chut learned a great deal from Hilo before the Clone Wars began and has since seen very little of the man.
Motivation
Belief: The Jedi - L'chut fully believes that the Jedi Order is capable of bringing an end to this war and restoring Peace and Justice throughout the galaxy. He is proud to be accepted as a Jedi Padawan and serves faithfully, hoping one day to ascend to the lofty ranks of the Masters but fully aware that he has a long way to go before then.
Morality
Score: 71 (light side)
Strength: Love - L'chut, despite his rough appearance, is a bit of a bleeding heart and can't help but feel sympathetic towards any sad stories. He recognizes fully that trying to help everyone whom he comes across is a fruitless quest, and that people will try to take advantage of him, but he almost can't help but believe and try to help anyone he meets.
Weakness: Jealousy - That said, he does sometimes feel a bit of resentment towards those who don't appreciate his generosity, especially the people who treat the Jedi Order with contempt while reaping the benefits of its existence. He has also been known to comment on how much more training and respect some of the other padawans receive, particularly special cases like The Chosen One. While he tries to keep such emotions in control, they are a struggle for him.
Description
L'chut is short and ugly by human (and most Lannik) standards. He bears a large scar upon his forehead, running from his right eye up to the top of his head. His right arm is criss-crossed with multiple smaller faint scars. He wears a cut down version of the traditional Jedi Robes and, from a distance at least, could be mistaken for a youngling. His voice is deep and gruff and by all accounts he seem like he would be hard to talk to. It is all the more surprising, therefore, that he is such a softy at heart, constantly seeking to make others feel better about themselves, completely taken in with the joy of the Jedi Order's work, and even somewhat hesitant to fight, hence the need for remedial Basic Training as it were.
Other Notes
L'chut's first attempt at creating a lightsaber for himself took place under the guidance of his master on an abandoned but habitable asteroid mining facility. Master Hilo believed that the seclusion and isolation would aid L'chut in creating his perfect lightsaber and so left him there, alone, for a week to work with the parts. It was a disaster, mitigated only by the fact that L'chut hadn't permanently damaged most of the components. Disappointed, but determined to help L'chut along, Master Hilo aided him in his second attempt and L'chut was able to create his lightsaber the second time, though a few of the components had to be replaced from the first attempt. Despite its somewhat mundane appearance (and the handful of places where a decoration covered up an imperfection in the craftsmanship) L'chut did gain a stronger connection to his crystal during the second construction, enabling him to bond with it much more thoroughly than most Jedi did when creating their first saber.
The hilt resembles http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_LBoiJX-K6F8/S_1fsogOXvI/AAAAAAAAA-c/sVkTTM6z5to/s1600/Ro-lightsaber+Rahm+Kota4.jpg but is made of far less impressive materials. Its shape is a simple cylinder and, though the hilt is padded for comfort, it shows many signs of being put together by a poor craftsman. From a distance they would be impossible to tell but anyone holding the saber would have to be blind to miss the clear mismatches of components and hasty welding spots.
