Gira introduces herself as "Dr. Hanan," a recent graduate from Carosi XII Academy of Medicine (on the Outer Rim planet Carosi XII). There, she was taught by the venerable Carosite species (renowned across the galaxy for their medical skills). She claims her schooling didn't give the field experience she was hoping for--thus, she has made her way to Hutt territory in order to rectify this.

However, "Dr. Hanan" is not at graduate at all. In fact, she has only completed one year of medical training. While she is intelligent, the difficult technical tests at CAM were nearly impossible for Hanan to pass. The final test for first year students must be passed in order to continue in the program. All students are given two tries. Hanan failed both times.

The school was ready to expel her, but her educational knowledge and ability to be cool under pressure inspired her mentor (a carosite named Vergesso) to try an unorthodox approach. They made the following deal:

If Hanan could travel to and survive the dangerous Hutt sector of space for a year as a medical assistant (with whatever crews, quests, and missions she could join), he would welcome her back for her second year without her needing to retake the test.

She spent her last money on a ship to Hutt Space. Though a violation of galactic law, Hanan knew she wouldn't be respected or even given a chance unless she professed to already be a doctor.

Expertise (EotE:95). Gira Hanan wants to excel as a medical doctor and constantly practices to achieve perfection (especially in the Medical skill).

Oath (EotE: 39). Gira Hanan has sworn to become a doctor and live by the medical oath the Carosite species expects all their graduates to uphold. She believes that by not fulfilling this goal, she will have betrayed all she has hoped to become in her life. Imagining a future where she does not live by this oath makes her feel terrible, empty, and worthless.

The oath covers the following ideals:
1. All life is sacred; all attempts must be made to save a life.
2. Pacifism, unless force is required to protect the feeble, helpless, and other patients.
3. Private thoughts are inviolate (no interrogation or brainwashing)
4. Those who suffer will not be shamed, shunned, or confined to institutions.
5. Charge only what the patient can pay.
6. Teach and pass on medical knowledge whenever possible.
7. Harness any and all technology helpful to healing the natural state, but do not install cybernetics or enhancing prosthetics.
8. Live by your word: verbal and written agreements are completely binding.

(Suggestion: any time Hanan lies about being a doctor, she violates #8 and gains Obligation)

Gira Hanan believes that her destiny is defined by her actions and decisions. She is idealistic and a bit sheltered (and naive), but she believes her path is in medicine, and will fight for that at all costs.

As a Mirialan, Gira Hanan has gold-hued skin, brown hair, and brown eyes. She is a young adult, so has only the beginnings of the tattoos that will someday cover her body. The most visible of her tattoos is a pattern of lines and dots across the left side of her chin and jaw.

She wears grey, white, and beige doctors' apparel and carries a large medical backpack.
