Background
Mito is an Ewok rescued as a baby by a human woman named Maia when his people were attacked by Stormtroopers. Maia was a droid builder who manufactured architect droids. She liked to tinker with making her own little droids, but when she adopted baby Mito as her own child she decided to take on a new project: Mito hated being alone as an infant, and Maia was always away from home working, so in an effort to keep the knowledge of her new beloved child a secret Maia created DD1. The droid, which she stole parts from her work to create, served as a friend to Mito. DD1 was an imperfect creation as a whole, due to the haste at which he was created. Lacking the ability to speak or offer much other than basic child-caring duties, Maia was worried DD1 wouldn’t be a suitable babysitter. But baby Mito loved the droid. He laughed at DD1’s awkward mannerisms and, to Maia’s relief, remained mostly quiet during her time at work.
Present day: Mito is 14 years old, his mother taught him an immense amount about droid building, as well as providing him homeschooling when she could allot the time (he mostly had to teach himself.) DD1 is still Mito’s care taker, although most of the time Mito feels like he’s the one taking care of DD1 due to his sloppy construction and uncoordinated movements. The droid now has the ability to communicate with beeps and boops, but rarely ever talks unless talked to. But regardless of DD1’s many flaws, Mito loves the emotionless droid as his own older brother.
Mito’s human mother, Maia, disappears. He was used to her working late, but when she never showed up one night Mito knew something was wrong. She had been acting very strange, almost frightened, and hugged Mito particularly long before going to work the day before. After five days of being home alone, Mito takes his mothers hand held blaster, throws a backpack over DD1’s shoulders, and the two set out to find his mother.
Motivation
Finding his mother. Keeping DD1 safe.
