Background
Iaco Raynor is a hyperspace pirate from the Outer Rim World of Eriadu. His family started off as small merchant spice traders who eventually became among the planet's wealthiest spice trading families. The decision by the Republic Senate to grant a Free Trade Monopoly to the Trade Federation in 124 BBY nearly destroyed the family business. The Raynor family hoped that the Free Trade Reforms of 67 BBY would lead to a more equitable situation in the Outer Rim, but instead, the Trade Federation enhanced its power by gaining a seat in the Republic Senate.
Disgusted and disillusioned, the Raynor family became secret benefactors to the Nebula Front - an anti-Trade Federation piracy organization. His parents encouraged him to join the organization as a way to keep tabs on their investment, however, Iaco became a true believer in the cause.
Iaco was pleased with the outcome of the Naboo crisis and believes Chancellor Palpatine is taking on the corrupting influence of the Intergalactic Banking Clan and Trade Federation and believes the Republic should impose itself on the galaxy's corporate behemoths. He is secretly pleased with the Separatist Crisis, as he believes it will create the galacto-political conditions necessary for a new Grand Army of the Republic to sweep away the trade monopolies and allow for the return of small, non-corporate merchant trading families in the Outer Rim.
Iaco spoke with his parents, Dr. and Mr. Raynor by HoloNet, who conveyed their plausibly deniable pleasure with the Trade Federation's loss on Dorvalla. But when Raynor spoke passionately about the deplorable conditions in the mines of Dorvalla, his vieux riche parents turned haughty. The Raynors reminded their son that his ultimate objective, indeed the entire purpose of the Nebula Front, was to create the political conditions necessary to regain the family's exclusive trading rights in the Outer Rim, not spark a pan-Galactic militant labor movement. Iaco left the call disheartened and torn - would he side with his family or with the oppressed laborers of the Galaxy? Still, his overriding hatred lay with the Trade Federation, the Intergalactic Banking Clan, and their corporate cronies in the Senate. Perhaps only a truly empowered executive could impose the labor rights desperately needed in the Outer Rim...
