Background
Gel Viss was inducted into the Jedi order when he was no more than two, and achieved the rank of Knight at the age of 19. Gel has spent the ten years since then mostly outside the halls of the Jedi temple, preferring instead to use his skill as a Jedi to aid those whom would most likely be overlooked otherwise. The general indifference that he perceives from the order at large has lead Gel’s relationship with the Jedi to be strained, with some masters viewing him as a rebel or deviant and others as a potential problem. Initially Gel was determined to abstain himself from the Clone Wars, but has since changed his position and elected to apply his expertise within the Republic military. It should be noted that Gel’s decision to teach has been vehemently opposed by other members of the order.
Viss’s extensive experience with elements of the criminal underworld has lead him to learn some of its more common dialects. Huttese (Hutts), Pyke (Pykes), Falleen (Falleen), Twi’leki (Twi’lek), Nikto (Nikto), Dosh (Trandoshan), Rodian (Rodian), Sriluurian (Weequay).
