Background
B1-X-B3 "Bixby" started its life as a battle droid during the Clone Wars. Luckily for Bixby, it never saw the battlefield. Bixby left the production line 1 week before the execution of the Trade Federation leaders and spent most of the next year sitting in the belly of a cargo ship. With the end of the war, the galactic market was flooded with cheap droids that lacked any useful skills. Eventually, the unit that would become Bixby was bought by the University of Alderaan's Archaeology Department to be used for manual labor during the expeditions of Dr Kenyon. Dr Kenyon studied extinct force-using cultures that fell outside of the the Jedi tradition, and his missions often took him to dangerous locales. Bixby spent nearly 2 decades toting luggage through swamps, jungles, and rivers. As the time went by, the ships pilot and mechanic made many upgrades to the B1 unit to aid Dr Kenyon's work. These upgrades included more powerful servers to carry more, increased memory to store images, and improved processors to aid in navigation through the backwoods. Between the upgrades and years without memory wipes, Bixby began developing a curiosity about the subjects that Dr. Kenyon studied. Dr. Kenyon was advised to wipe the droids memory banks, but he was intrigued by the many unorthodox questions the droid would come up with.
It was a dark twist of fate that caused Dr. Kenyon's expedition to meet disaster just as Alderaan did the same. Dr. Kenyon's team cracked open an ancient temple on a remote, forgotten planet that had been wiped from the archives. As the team explored the ruins, a dark curse took hold of them, and they turned on each other. Within a week of gaining access to the tomb, their bodies had joined it. Fortunately for Bixby, the curse had no effect on droids, and as a result, the crazed organics completely ignored the droid. Unfortunately, the ship was damaged in the fighting. Normally the University would have sent a team in investigate when the professor never turned up, but there was no longer a university, or planet, to send help. As a result, Bixby spent a number of years alone attempting to fix the ship. Isolation, experimentation, and curiosity further drove the droid to sentience.
After a few years, the droid managed to get the ship running and make it to a nearby colonized planet. The ship's landing gear had been stripped in the repairs, so the landing finished off the already damaged ship. Once back in civilization, Bixby found itself bored and has been seeking ways to embark on new expeditions.
Motivation
Discorvery: Self - Bixby will never admit it but is obsessed with understanding where droids fit in the universe. His drive to understand sentient life is based on his desire to not see himself as inferior to organics. Particularly vexing for him is the seeming inability for and droid to have a connection to the force.
Obligations
Debt to Subject M0ZZ for damage from crash landing: 15
Description
Bixby is a heavily modified B1 battle droid. The most obvious visual changes are the white plating and the reshaping of his head to be less humanoid.
Bixby sees every waking moment as a chance to study those around him. He relentlessly records information on his "subjects" and will ask embarrassing questions about their minds and bodies. Bixby often asserts a sense of superiority in order to push down any feelings of inferiority he has. Bixby has no internal sense of morality and will often "try" different systems in an attempt to understand how they affect other beings.
