Background
Tol-Tal first discovered his Force sensitivity while living among his tribe on Toola. The leader of his small tribe was also a force user, but was strongly influenced by the dark side. One day, as a child, be learned he had the ability to suppress the damage the leader of the tribe could inflict on his fellow tribe members during outbursts of rage.
A defining moment on how he saw the world was when his father was killed by the tribe leader for a small slight. He learned he could not protect everyone, and that some injustices can’t be corrected right away.
He kept his abilities hidden as long as he could, but at the age of 30 the tribe leader figured out what Tol-Tal was doing. After the leader attempted to kill Tol-Tal, he fled and made it to one of the star ports on Toola. He found there a Jedi of the New Order who sensed the force in him and pursuaded him to join the Jedi Order.
The memory of his former leader will always remain with him, as he struggles to wonder if he did enough to stand up to the tribe leader.
Motivation
Tol-Tal has a strong commitment and oath to serving Justice, while knowing that sometimes, it is not pertinent to render justice right away. But justice must always come eventually, and Tol-Tal burns all injustices he sees into his mind to make sure that they are dealt with.
Morality
Having grown up in a tribe that had a cruel leader that no one else would dare stand up to, Tol-Tal learned the value of independence. This makes it difficult for him however to understand the point of view of people who blindly wish to follow the will of another, as he has followed his own will for so long.
