Background

Rin Tohsaka grew up in the height of luxury on Coruscant, daughter to an important Arakyd Industries shareholder. She found herself drawn to and fascinated computers at an early age, and would often access the Holonet in her spare time. As she grew older, she inherited her father's stock in Arakyd. She also began to start hacking into secure systems, just for the challenge of it.

It was this hacking that allowed her to first spot the corruption on Coruscant. Bribery, smuggling, slavery... the things Rin discovered painted a rather nasty picture. However, she never believed the Rebellion would be able to do anything but sow anarchy and chaos. She believed the system could be changed without being toppled, but she knew that it would need some prodding in the right direction. She decided she needed to deal with things personally, becoming a computer hacker under the identity 'Gandr-22'. A few months later, she met fresh ISB Recruit Condren Gale at a gala, and the two had a brief one-night fling, though they became friendly acquaintances afterwards, though Rin never revealed herself to Condren as Gandr_22.

Rin would expose many wrongs on Coruscant, and the Empire at large, evading any attempts at pursuit or capture. However, while she did her best to minimize needless casualties, Rin knew that killing would be inevitable at some point or another, and began teaching herself how to fight. Though what opened Rin's eyes to this were the ISB storming the Tohsaka mansion looking for her, led by Condren and accompanied by a couple squads of Stormtroopers. She only barely escaped, and was forced to escape offworld.

She traveled the galaxy for a few years before she realized the truth - the Empire could not be changed from within, and had to be brought down, before things could be made better. Having no other options left to her, Rin joined the Rebel Alliance.

'Gandr-22' now works for the Alliance, seeking to expose the Empire's dirty little secrets. Assigned to the Lantilles Sector, Rin has gone on a few missions for the Sector Force, and was actually captured by Condren on Avanelle when a mistake she made gave the Imperials the team's comm frequency. During that captivity, Rin learned that Condren had felt much more for her than just friendship, and had felt betrayed and used when she discovered Rin's identity. The past few years of hunting Rin have transformed Condren's affection for the hacker into hatred, and she now wants to see Rin dead so she can finally 'put Rin behind her'.

Intended to be framed for a hacking attempt, tried, and executed, Rin was saved from her fate by the Gank soldier Eskol Bruvum, also known as Shooter, and she found herself falling in love with him over the following months, though eventually the two realized it wouldn't work out and broke it off, though they remain good friends.

Recently, she has developed a new relationship, with mechanic Akaru Stingray. She's finding herself much more involved in this than with any other relationship she's had in the past. Furthermore, she has found herself pregnant with Akaru's child - or children, given that the medic Halfred believes it is likely for her to be carrying twins, and has recently married him, taking his name and becoming Rin Stingray. Continuing her struggle against the Empire while having a relationship, starting a family, and trying to avoid the problems of the past, Rin certainly has her work cut out for her, but she knows it has to be done...

Motivation

Injustice/Oppression - Rin hates the oppression inflicted by the Empire, and seeks to put a stop to it. Normally, she does this by her activities as 'Gandr 22', but she is not above arranging 'accidents' for someone, if she feels the need...

Relationship/Lover - Rin has had two relationships in the past, but her current relationship with the mechanic Akaru Stingray seems to have more to it than either of the other two. She hopes to avoid any of the mistakes she has made in the past, and has begun to imagine a life together with Akaru - and likes the thought very much. The fact that she is bearing his children and has married him is a major point in the favor of the relationship going right this time.

Duties

Intelligence (295 Points) - Rin's main duty to the alliance is intelligence gathering. She will not stop until she has uncovered all of the Empire's dirty little secrets...

Other Notes

A version of this character designed for the Sector Force Lantilles setting.

Former Active Character in the SFL Setting, now Retired.

Because she has multiple ranged weapons, melee weapons, and 'armor sets', Rin will choose one melee weapon, one ranged weapon, and two sets of armor to bring along on each mission, and might not always bring the same weapons on every mission. Her 'failsafe charge' technically counts as a weapon, but is not treated as such by my self-determined ruleset - rather, it is a device meant to fry her Neural Recorder and other implants in the case of capture.
