Shisu Manta was a Selkath scientist born in 7948 CRC on the once-prominent waterworld Manaan. Born into a large family, Shisu was more reclusive than the more boisterous Selkath of her family. She was interested in the wild sealife dwelling below Ahto City, primarily the firaxa that were claimed to be distant cousins of the Selkath.

Entering into school to learn more about the sea creatures and the oceans that surrounded the Selkath homeworld, Shisu became a marine biologist and environmental scientist. With a family going down a path she couldn't follow and the Empire taking over Manaan, Shisu left her home and eventually found the Rebel Alliance.

Not a fighter by any means, Shisu refused to become a combatant, preferring to use science to peacefully assist the Rebellion and its allies. Finding that the Rebellion needed more medics, she learned how to use bacta to heal the wounded (bacta being a taboo topic to the people of her world).

When the Rebellion recruited for people to mediate tense relations between the Patrolian and Karkarodon settlers of Truuine over fishing and trade disputes, while also establishing a base on the water planet, Shisu was chosen. Her knowledge and understanding of the environment and sealife of waterworlds would come in handy for the Rebel Alliance's mission.
