Background
Raf Garrn was born in 32 BBY to a pack of Shistavanen spacers, who had fled the civil wars taking place in their home system of Uvena. When Raf was very young, his family's freighter was attacked by pirates, and he and several others were taken captive. He spent his youth a slave, forced to fight in illegal fighting rings for the entertainment and profit of his captors. Raf survived where many others fell, but the constant brutality left him angry and broken.
One fateful day, the slaver's den came under attack. Raf watched from his cell as a stranger appeared from nowhere and fought with power the likes of which he had never seen, dispatching his guards without firing so much as a single blaster shot. The stranger freed him and introduced herself as Ziresh, a Warden of the Sky, one of a group of vigilantes who protected the spacelanes using a power called the Force. Ziresh claimed she could sense Force potential in Raf, and wanted to help him learn to control it. Confused, but grateful for his freedom, he agreed.
For several years, Raf followed Ziresh as an apprentice, learning from her teachings and assisting her in her work. Progress with the Force proved slow and difficult, hindered by his poor temper and impatience. Despite this, he was glad to finally be given a purpose beyond violence, and took solace in the work he did by her side, bringing safety to innocents and vigilante justice to criminals.
Inevitably, the two found themselves at odds with the Galactic Empire's ever-expanding grasp. An effort to liberate supplies from an Imperial freighter over Tatooine saw them fleeing heavy pursuit after a tripped alarm revealed their presence. Backed into a corner, Ziresh forced Raf into an escape pod without her, sending him off towards the surface below while she held the attention of their pursuers. Raf crash-landed on the desert planet, mostly unharmed, and wandered his way to the spaceport of Mos Shuuta, where he searches for any opportunity to reunite with his mentor.
