Background
Ten years ago, Arden was an average, everyday mechanic, until she had to deal with a ship that got brought in so unstable that it was inevitable that something was going to go wrong in a bad way, and soon. Unfortunately, when it happened, it did so with a bang (literally), injuring Arden seriously thanks to the poor work of whatever unknown bastard ruined the original job. She ended up with a lot of broken bones, burns, and a cybernetic implant that wraps around her head mid-skull. You can't always see it, depending on how she's wearing her hair these days, but it's there and it helps keep her short term memory running right, along with some added bonuses. She had a hard time readjusting after the accident and ended up losing her job and drifting- she lost a lot of her connections to people and got used to just spending time with the tech. After a while without any real friends or people to talk to, Arden ended up with a weird notion that she's got an almost spiritual connection with electronics and machinery after the accident-- one that's potentially off-putting to others that she meets nowadays. One of the benefits of drifting further and further from the core has been meeting strange new tech and trying to integrate it into her ship, which she sees as almost part of herself. What. It's not weird, shut up.
Motivation
Arden just cares about one thing- her ship. Well, her ship and her people, apparently. She’s still figuring out how wide a circle of people that encompasses, but if you’re outside it, you’re not really on her sensors.
Obligations
Obsession- she's got that urge to tinker and integrate new tech into the ship. It's hard to walk past something that looks particularly enticing and when you KNOW it's better off with you, it's... difficult. It's only actually caused problems with the ship a FEW times, and come on, she's fixed that and now she knows the systems (BOTH of them) even better now, so really, it's a net good.
Description
Arden is in her early 30s, with a penchant for practical jumpsuits, tool belts, and has mousy brown hair that mostly covers her implant (she's not hiding it, but it's often hidden incidentally). There's an old burn scar along her left temple, and her gaze is often either abstracted or disconcertingly direct.
