Background
If any of this doesn't fit canon or needs changed a bit to fit i will gladly do so.
1,) How did you discover your force sensitivity?
Rod's force sensitivity was found by the old Jedi order when he was young. He had a knack for knowing when something was going to happen, sometimes as far ahead as a day, sometimes merely moments. This lead to him being brought to the temple and being taught the ways of the jedi.
2.) Describe a moment where you fell prey to your moral weakness or experienced a tragedy/horror that still haunts you.
Rod was on Coruscant the day of the purge and lived through the loss of nearly every jedi in existence. To this day this still affects him and has created a hatred for the Empire inside of him.
3.) How did you come to join the NJO?
Rod heard through a contact about the NJO and he sought them out to continue the training he never finished as a child and to use these abilities to continue helping the galaxy in any way he could.
4.) Name one NPC your character has a strong connection with. This could be a family member, a friend, a work contact, or a bitter rival.
Rod first met Dak Oolron on Nar Shada about 14 years after the purge. Dak took Rod with him when he left to join the Rebellion and they both became pilots for the Rebellion. When Dak was made Commander of Arrow Squadron he requested Rod specifically to be in the squadron as well.
5.) [Optional] Describe a pivotal moment in your life where you demonstrated your moral strength despite adversity.
The biggest example of this was after a long, hard battle against the Empire while Rod was with the Rebellion he returned back to the ship to find on board there was a captured Imperial Storm-trooper, a member of the group he had learned to truly hate over the years. The trooper was to be tortured for information but, it was just a kid, no older than 18 or 19 and he was terrified, true fear in his eyes. Rod still hated the Empire but, this kid wasn't what he hated, he was just a pawn. That night Rod sneaked into the troopers room, took his armor, badges, data pad and any other way anyone would have of identifying him and helped him escape. He overcame his hatred to free a kid that didn't deserve to die just because he was on the wrong side of the war.
Rod was born on Sullust in 29 BBY. From a young age his mother could tell there was something special about him. This was reassured one day when Rod was 5. He would simply say to his mother "a strange man will be here tomorrow." His mother hadn't told him a Jedi was coming to test him for his special abilities. The next day this Jedi came and with Rod's mothers permission took Rod to the Jedi temple on Coruscant where he would begin his training as a Jedi.
Rod would train for 5 years in the jedi acadamy, being taught by Master Corvus that the protection of others is the most important thing above all others. Though Rod wasn't Corvus' Padawan, he had grown a special connection with Rod and took him under his wing. Little did Rod know this time would come to an end before he knew it. One day on one of Rod and Corvus' walks through Coruscant, Corvus received a call on his communicator. It was from another Jedi who simply said "The clones have attacked the temple and it has fallen you need to get off planet." Rod would hear a light saber ignite as the comm ended and he would turn to Rod and simply say "We need to go." with fear in his eyes as he would grab rod and lead him towards the nearest spaceport. They would arrive at the spaceport and Corvus would talk to the dock captain for a little while until he would gesture for Rod again and they would take off towards a dock. As they are boarding the ship they had chartered countless clones would run around the corner of the dock. Corvus would look at Rod and simply say, "Remember, always protect those who can't protect themselves and stay save." as Rod's vision would go black with a sharp pain on the back of his neck.
He would wake up a few hours later to the captain shaking him. "I'm sorry about your Master, but he did what he had to to keep you safe." Rod would look around the ship and begin to cry, knowing what Corvus had done. The ship was destined for Nar Shaddaa. Somewhere Rod would be safe. Though his light saber was missing. The captain would walk over to Rod and hand him a change of clothes. "These may be a little big but at least you won't look like a Jedi." Rod wouldn't respond, simply change clothes and stay silent until they arrived on Nar Shaddaa. The captain had set him up with a job and a fake family, they they weren't exactly the most savory people. His would be father's name was Reelo Baruk the owner of Baruk's Bar. Rod would work in the bar for the next 14 years serving drinks and eventually working as the bouncer before he would meet Dak Oolron. Dak was a mercenary that worked for Baruk, a smuggler to be exact. Rod would meet Dak on his return from his first successful run and they would become friends fairly quickly. Rod would eventually join Dak on his smuggling runs for a few years until one day things changed again in Rod's life.
Dak would tell Rod that he had heard stories of a Rebellion forming against the Empire and that he was going to leave his smuggling life behind to make a change in the world. Together they would leave Nar Shaddaa and join the Rebellion as pilots. They would fly under the Green Squadron. Rod would begin using his link to the Force again through his ability to see into the future and he would save Dak's life several times. (During this time the events of answer 5 happen.) After a few years in Green Squadron in the year 0 BBY, Dak would be asked to form his own Squadron which would be known as Arrow Squadron. Dak would assemble some of the best pilots he knew, including Rod. Rod and Dak would fly together under the Arrow Squadron for the remainder of their time in the rebellion until 14 ABY when the peace accords were signed. After a meeting about the peace accords Dak would pull Rod aside and tell him about a New Jedi Order he had heard about that the Jedi Luke Skywalker had started. Rod would tell him he wanted to seek out the temple but he had to deal with some things first, some things he has waited 40 years for, to see his mother.
Rod would return to his home world in search of his mother and would spend the next 2 years there catching up and getting his first taste of family for 40 years. After a bit of time with his family he would leave for the New Jedi Order with the promise that he would return again soon.
