Background
Delilah was a human Mandalorian born to the Rook clan nearly 9 weeks premature. She was soft, small, and frail; most of her clan had little hope that she would survive - this was the first of many times she would prove everyone wrong and beat statistically long odds. Her parents loved to tell the story, constantly editorialising that she got their two worst qualities and couldn't wait to make them proud by showing them off. Her mother's impatience, and her Father's stubbornness. She was a very late bloomer, constantly the smallest among her age group, which made her stubbornness and constant desire to prove herself grow at an alarming rate.
Some people in her clan would even joke that Delilah willed herself into having a second growth spurt out of the sheer desire to prove herself better than everyone, growing nearly a foot in her mid-to-late teens.
It was no surprise when she set off on her own at a fairly young age, despite the gentle suggestions of her clan to wait a few more years.
Impatient. Stubborn. Desperate to prove herself.
She drifted for a few years, taking any job that came her way, and fighting off every all-too-common double-cross, before eventually running into Tyber Zann.
The work was more constant than everything else she had been doing, albeit a bit more morally grey at times, and it was easy enough to rise through the ranks. And It was easy enough to do. Kill some imps, steal their supplies, and sell whatever they didn't need to people who could afford to pay, and dispose of anyone who gets in their way.
And she was still young enough that she went above and beyond to impress her new boss. She would take charge when nobody else would, didn't mind making her kills a little messier, and would bring back the odd trophy now and then, just to get an extra few words of praise, which bred a bit of a ruthless bloodlust in her.
She had a good thing going, eventually rising to work as one of Zann's trusted enforcers. Easy work when she wanted it, total autonomy on how to handle most jobs, an earned sense of superiority, and the respect she felt she deserved for her efficient work.
And then along came Jun.
This cocky pretty boy that was no different than every other young kid that comes along thinking he's hot stuff. She didn't even take him seriously enough to bet on how quickly he'd die on his first mission. She lost a good amount of credits doing so on his second mission. By his third, she decided it wasn't just luck keeping him alive, and maybe he really could walk his talk.
Delilah and Jun partnered up professionally about a month after his arrival. They constantly competed for kills and credits brought in, with Delilah nearly always ending up on top, and not much later they partnered up romantically with the same M.O. - and the same results.
Jun was idealistic; always wanting to give away meds and supplies at a fraction of what they were worth, something that Delilah could not stand, "It's not as if we're selling it for that much in the first place, and we just need to make enough to at least cover our weapon upkeep!" About a year into their relationship, Jun outright stole a massive shipment of crucial goods from Zann to give away to a suffering refugee camp. When they found out what happened, Zann sent Delilah to bring Jun in as a test of loyalty. She caught up to him, and for the first time in her life found herself questioning herself. She let him go.
As a result, she knew she couldn't show her face to Zann and his crew, so she freelanced, and attempted to keep a low profile. Her past eventually caught up to her, and two years later Zann and his crew ambushed her, taking all of her equipment, and credits. She was left bruised, creditless, and with nothing but a barely working blaster and a chip on her shoulder, so when she heard rumours of a rival faction planning a hostile takeover she was all too willing to join.
