Background

Clone number CC-519 (Sly) started life as all clone troopers did with a muscle memory for killing and a mind for war but as he excelled at his purpose he never really thought about living, only dying in service to the republic. When he was deemed worthy by the closest things to parents he had he was shipped off world to finally succeed at his long-awaited goal.

Upon meeting the Jedi who would command him he felt conflicted for the first time. On one hand this Jedi had and likely would command countless of his brothers to their deaths, a thought that filled him with disgust. The other part of him though told him that he was his commander and you must always follow the commander; this side was a lot more at peace as it was a comfortable thought. Despite his early hesitation the Jedi proved to be a competent General and Sly kept his concerns private.

Until one night after a week-long battle on a backwater Agri-world Sly had had enough he saw the casualty numbers and knew this Jedi had made a mistake in the battle. But as he approached the generals tent he heard a sound he had never heard before it was similar to crying but almost silent. He peered through the tent to see the Jedi alone and with a holoscreen scrolling through faces, he realized they were the faces of his brothers not just the ones that died in this battle but any that had died under this Jedi. Sly realized the Jedi was grieving for every clone he killed, but the man had long since run out of tears to give likely having been at this for hours. This was the second time he ever felt conflicted. Without saying a word Sly could leave the general’s tent leave him to his grieving knowing that he took every loss harder then Sly ever could or he could interrupt simply walk in and complete his mission for leaving his own tent. This was the last time Sly failed to complete a mission.

Many years later Sly had managed to stay alive and somehow so has the Jedi, they both became common sites charging enemy lines or fortified positions too dangerous for head on assaults. Together their efforts likely saved countless clone lives and both were often praised for heroism against the odds. Only Sly knew better the Jedi’s vid had gotten longer then most battles and he feared the man simply wanted it to finally have an end. Maybe that was why Sly respected the man, he understood a desire to give his life to save others and in the end that is what the Jedi was hoping for. Sly got to know his brothers but he always kept his distance, if he didn’t they might try and run in with him and the Jedi. Later he realized it wasn’t to protect them but to protect the Jedi whom Sly found a growing admiration for. That made it all the harder when Sly heard an order that he did not want to follow. This was the last time Sly was ever conflicted.

As the body of the Jedi slumped from the hail of blaster fire Sly stabbed him one last time and collected a small data disk from the still smiling corpse. With a guttural scream only Sly could muster he resolved to complete the mission he was made for, and as the last of his former brothers fell to his blade he disappeared into the thick brush of the jungle planet.

Over the next few years he systematically dismantled small Imperial outposts and supply caches, until the day he was caught but it wasn’t an Imperial Shuttle that came to confront him it was a small civilian shuttle carrying a small band of the worst soldiers he’d ever seen. When they explained what they wanted him for Sly knew he made this choice a very long time ago. With his re integration into the life of a soldier Sly Chose a new name one to better remember the only person he ever need remember.

What was your life before joining the Rebellion?

Jungle Survival and hit and run tactics against small Imperial outposts.


How and Why did you join the rebellion?

Bigger targets get more done.


How has the Empire affected your life?

Made me kill the only man I ever respected so I’ll kill them to protect whatever is left of the republic even if it’s only me.


Who are your greatest ally and rival in your squad?

The Company Quarter Master helps me get weapons I like him.
There’s this jackass “Melee Specialist” kid who I wanna smack every time he says anything I don’t like him but I need to be better then him.


Do you have any connections outside of the rebellion?

A few old army contacts, any retired clones no one I keep in touch with though.

Short: Kill every imperial I encounter
Long: Return the republic to it's glory.

Motivation

After the summarily ended Clone Wars he has sought the destruction of the empire that he is convinced is a secret cabal that conspired to remove the republics defenders and take control of the galaxy. Potentially a separatist plot or something even more sinister. Either way the only order he has from his maker remaining is to protect the Republic and Empire is a sure as Mustafar not how you spell that.

Duties

Personal: Loss prevention

Ensuring that their troops are as safe as possible under battlefield conditions is these Commanders' primary concern. They never send their troops into hopeless situations in which defeat is certain, preferring instead to preserve their unit’s strength for meaningful battles if sacrifices must be made. If taken too far, this ideology can result in weak commanding officers who lose ground because they aren’t even willing to try. They may gain a reputation for cowardice, which harms both discipline and their own chances for advancement.
