Background

During the rule of the Galactic Empire, Caid and his family abandoned Duro as fugitives (~19 BBY). Always on the move, Caid learned from his parents how to fly, and by the age of 10(~13 BBY), was already a competent pilot. However, his parents kept secret from him the fact that they were assisting pre-Alliance rebels by smuggling in order to stay afloat. On yet another new planet, Caid was waiting for his parents in their ship as they went off to deliver their latest cargo. Suddenly, as his parents returned to their hangar, they were ambushed by Stormtroopers. As he hid and watched from the cockpit, his parents were beaten unconscious and dragged away. As he watched in shock, two Imperials began to make their way towards the ramp of the ship, and Caid panicked. The only thing he could think to do was fly, and assuming his parents had been killed, took off to the surprise of the Imperials. As blaster fire scorched the ship, he escaped.

Caid plugged into the navicomputer the coordinates of the last place he and his family had been: An independent space station called the Krayt Wing that repaired ships and turned an eye to smugglers. Upon arriving at the station, with no family or money to his name, he agreed to trade the ship in exchange for a place to live and work. The family’s ship had been nearly worthless, and was possibly being tracked by the Empire, but Kaash - the Corellian proprietor of the station - was kind and saw the advantage of having a Duros pilot as an employee. In addition, he shared Caid’s disdain for the Galactic Empire.

Caid worked on the station for years. Eventually he was known as the best pilot at the station, and knew his way around most ships that passed through. There were multiple chances for Caid to join the Rebel Alliance as they began coming through the station from time to time, but he had grown to despise the Alliance. After all, if not for the rebels he might still have his parents. He did meet some rebels who passed through the station, and even silently respected some of them. As the years went by, Caid grew restless, and eager to pilot a ship of his own. His wanderlust eventually became overwhelming, and he was itching to make it out on his own to see the galaxy and beyond. Leaving a personal and emotional note to Kaash, he stowed away on a smuggler’s ship with a meager amount of credits and plans to eventually buy a small ship of his own (~2 BBY).

A few months later, Caid had not succeeded. After trying and failing to turn his small amount of credits into enough to buy a cheap ship, he was broke and beginning to get desperate. That’s when he met Sri Srato, who was in desperate need of a pilot for a ship heist. Caid eagerly agreed to team up with Sri in return for the promise of the job of pilot on the ship for the foreseeable future.

Motivation

Ambition - Wanderlust/Novelty

Caid was constantly on the move with his family after they escaped the Empire's grasp at Duro. Learning how to fly at a young age gave him the ability to see the world, and being orphaned soon after gave him the motivation to. Without ties to anyone except for Kaash, he had enough reason to set off on his own to see the galaxy.

Obligations

Favour - 10

Caid owes Kaash for taking him under his wing and providing him a place to live. When Caid left with plans of his own, he promised Kaash that he would eventually pay him back for taking him in and not turning him in to the Empire.

Caid wears a custom pilot vest and flight pants that he acquired from various smugglers who he met during his working years. Caid is friendly to most, but has no love for the Rebel Alliance or especially the Galactic Empire. He feels like he has finally gotten his chance to explore the galaxy and is intrigued by the promise of an adventure.
