Background

Brill Waran (he/him/his) was born 55 BBY to a wealthy clan. He was raised on Ryloth, but was able to travel the galaxy with his parents, prominent traders who frequently took Brill and his tutors along on their business trips. With hid interest in alien life forms cultivated by his travels, he chose to study biology and medicine when the time came to attend university.

He met Cham Syndulla during his studies and the two bonded over shared political ideologies. The two grew close enough that Brill was asked to be an assisting doctor in attendance when Hera, Cham's daughter, was born. Eleni, Cham's wife, personally placed newborn Hera in Brill's arms after the parents had had their moment to celebrate the birth. Though Brill's studies and then doctorly duties frequently took him off-world, he always remained close to the Syndullas.

When Ryloth was invaded by the Separatist Droid Army in 22 BBY, Brill fled underground to join Cham's Twi'lek Resistance forces. Brill provided medical care for the resistance, finally re-emerging back into open society when Ryloth was liberated at the end of the Clone Wars. When Ryloth was subjugated by the Galactic Empire that rose from the ashes of the Galactic Republic, political upheaval forced Brill to once again join Cham's forces in the Free Ryloth Movement.

When Eleni was killed amidst the years of conflict against the Empire, Cham grew more militant. It was then that Brill and Cham began to grow apart. As the Free Ryloth Movement's actions grew more destructive in nature, Brill's dedication to healing and causing no harm challenged his allegiances. In the end, Brill was unable to continue on with Cham's forces. A harsh falling out between the two old friends led Brill to flee Ryloth for the Outer Rim worlds, but not before the part Brill played against the Empire put a bounty on his head.

Motivation

Cause: Charity. Brill is driven by his doctor's oath to help others, to prevent harm, and to do no harm. Even in his fugitive state, he goes where his services are needed and strives to heal others.

Obligations

Bounty. Brill is a wanted fugitive, having provided aid to a faction rebelling against the Galactic Empire.

Brill is tall and lanky for a Twi'lek. He is pale-blue skinned and his lekku bear irregular, spiraling stripes typical of his clan. Being on the run, he often wears concealing clothing, dangling his lekku in front of his chest an an attempt to change the shape of his silhouette. When unhooded, he goes as far as wrapping his lekku with bandages in order to conceal the skin pattern and avoid detection.

As a child, he was unathletic and frequently the subject of teasing. This led him to grow up shielded, erecting an aloof personality as a defense. Though guarded, he is quick to open up once he finds someone kind and trustworthy. His aloofness proved an asset, however, when the time came for him to flee Ryloth and go into hiding.
