Background

Born on Ambria, Isaac signed up for the Imperial Army out of a sense of duty and a need for exploration. He found that he was quickly becoming bored, being assigned to a tiny hospital outside the capital after finishing medical school. With basic training out of the way, and after taking into account his abilities as a doctor, he was assigned to be a medic in a mobile infantry division. Isaac quickly realized that what he had signed up for was something completely different from what had been advertised in the propaganda posters and holo-shows, but it was too late to get out.

Due to his talents he had been selected to serve under an important commander, who was extremely cruel and abusive to his men, and downright genocidal to their enemies. This commanding officer commonly perpetrated horrific atrocities, and Isaac felt himself slipping further and further into the darkness of the system. Until one fateful day, when the man was struck by several stray rounds. Isaac botched the surgery (though to this day he does not actually know if he did it on purpose or not), and the CO died of his wounds. Coming to his senses, and knowing that his actions would have dire consequences once they were discovered, Isaac deserted his post and fled the system, escaping off-world before the autopsy and inquest could be completed, and his crime discovered.

Eventually Isaac heard that a bounty had been placed on his head, though whether it was because he deserted the Imperial Army, or because of his CO's death, he doesn't know. All he knows is that he has had enough excitement, he just wants to escape from this bounty, his bloody past, and to find a nice, quiet place to retire; or at least practice medicine in peace.

Motivation

The desire for closure, and for money. Money to pay off the bounty, or to escape to some quiet place where he can retire in obscurity.
