Background
My character is an Smuggler (Pilot) Umbaran named Syn Sicar. Both he and his life have been mostly defined by the caste system on Umbara and the under-dealings and struggle of scaling the system to get himself and his family to the top. While his family desired riches and various other things (he and his brothers each had their own interests/ desires/ dreams), Syn’s desire was always to finally get to see what is beyond Umbara, as only those at the top castes in Umbaran society can leave. His family and he always abhorred the Republic since it invaded and overtook Umbara, let alone when their father died in the battle. The Republic and the Empire are one and the same to Syn and his fellow Umbarans, only the Empire has doubled down on Umbaran society, to make it conform and bend to its will, so that Umbarans may be stuck below the Imperial boot.
With his younger brother Grudge being caught and imprisoned by Imperials for their schemes and with his youngest brother Rencor on the run for aiding rebels on Umbara, Syn made the very hard choice to abandon his remaining two free brothers and his families quest to rise to the top of the caste system by stealing an Imperial-owned ship in order to escape Imperial investigation. The guilt of leaving his brothers to rot or be demoted to a lower caste still haunts Syn to this day, weighing greatly on his mind, along with the fear that one of them will come after him. He also knows that the Imperials may still be looking for him, but doubts that the Empire, let alone his brothers, will be able to find or recognize him out here.
(Needless to say, I did take Betrayal as my obligation, taking also 5 obligation for Bounty)
Motivation
He loves and hates Umbara but hates the Imperials greatly.
Ultimately, he loves freedom and desires to remain that way no matter what.
(oh, and living)
Runs from the past, yet is seeking to live well
He thought he escaped Umbara and the mindset of "getting to the top [of the caste system]" but unknowingly still follows it due to how much that is engrained in him.
(for the sake of it, he would be sympathetic to the rebels, but it is the republic/ empire, how are mere rebels able to defeat/ stand against/ win against that? It is pracitcally/ basically impossible, right?)
Obligations
