Background

Elar was a Drall, a short, furry and clawed foot race of scholars and scientists. Relatively few Drall ever journey beyond the bounds of the Corellian System, preferring to pursue sensible, quiet lives of study and reflection.

That was Elar's life, a brilliant computer programmer whose guilty pleasure was busting myths with explosive experiments on the holonet and reading graphic novels about space adventures.

That was Elar's life rather, until he contracted Quannot's Syndrome. a debilitating and ultimately fatal disease. Upon learning his diagnosis, Elar threw himself at experimental ways imprint his consciousness into droid circuitry. It had never been done before and he had little time, so he spared no expense and racked up a large debt attempting the task. Working day and night, he failed and failed and failed, until the 2,477 attempt.

It was on this day a protocol droid, newly designated R24-77 was born and Elar's organic self passed shortly after.

On the surface, R24-77 appears to be a typical protocol droid however R24 (his preferred name) possesses many of Elar's memories, including some false ones derived from the graphic space novels he used to read.

This makes R24 similar to Elar in skill, but very different in his thirst for adventure. This paired with his incredible slicing skills, penchant for blowing things up (myth or otherwise) and sarcasm, caused by a short during the memory imprint, sets him apart.

Unfortunately, Elar borrowed large sums of money from the banking clan in order to complete his circuit imprint experiments. The courts ruled that R24-77 is a legal continuation of Elar and responsible for the debt. He was to be sold to the highest bidder, likely to some corporate research department to be disassembled, but Elar's family intervened and helped R24 get offworld by disguising him as a TC series protocol droid.

Over the last 10 years, R24 has become one of the more proficient slicers and adventurers in the galaxy. however he is always looking over his shoulder for the banking clan. Looking over his shoulder, checking his large arsenals of grenades, and cleaning the hidden blaster pistol he had installed in his right arm, insuring it is ready if needed.

Motivation

Obligations

DEBT:
Elar borrowed over 200,000 credits from the banking clan to fund his consciousness imprinting experiments. When Elar passed, the Banking clan sent their extensive stable of lawyers to convince the Galactic Court who found R24-77 liable for the debt plus interest.

R24 was to be sold to cover the debt, but posed as a common protocol droid to escape. He uses this ruse often to blend into the surroundings.

R24 has been chipping away at the debt, sometimes through legal jobs and other times by flexing his slicing skills. The Banking Guild is relentless though and have a standing bounty to bring him in.

FAMILY:
R24 retains all of the memories of his family, especially how they helped him escape. This act caused his family to be prosecuted for aiding and abating a debtor, resulting is some family members from being sent to prison.

R24 used his extensive slicing skills to have them transferred to a safehouse offworld, but he feels what he can only assume is guilt and responsibility when his family is in need.
