Background
When Berok and Vectrarc were growing up they got into little fights here and there both physical and verbal, just like any pair of brothers would. Vectrarc, being the older of the two, would always win in the more physical fights but Berok tended to best his brother at the more verbal duels because he would just call their mother over so she would take his side. Even though they would fight that didn't mean that they didn't care for each other. Kri'Syk men never share their feelings orally but they would show it by their actions. Vectrarc would stop by the marketplace and pick something up for his brother as a gift, he would stand up to those who would pick on Berok, and he would even take the blame for most fights willingly because he didn't want Berok to get in trouble. Vectrarc tended to take after their father, Torut, whereas Berok usually took after their mother, Shry. When Torut gave Vectrarc the Kri Family Brass Knuckles, Shry felt bad that Berok didn't get anything so she decided to give him an heirloom from her side of the family. She walked in to Berok's room, sat down next to him and handed him her fathers jacket, it was a little big on him at the time but Shry assured him that he would grow into it.
Vectrarc would frequently invite his friend Raslis over to spend the day with him and as any younger brother would do, Berok would try to prank the two older kids but nothing got past Raslis. He was a different kind of Bothan, Raslis was hyper-observant and a strangely skilled shadow, a term used in the Bothan school-system for a student who was good at hiding from the teachers and cheating on the exams. It seemed to Berok that his brother had stopped caring for him when instead of bringing home gifts for him like he used to, he would come home hours later than usual with Raslis by his side and nothing for little Berok. Hurt, Berok decided to try to chase Raslis away, he would belittle him as much as he could for being a child in Raslis' eyes. Berok even tried ruining some of Raslis' belongings, but nothing ever worked and Raslis kept coming over to the Kri'Syk house.
Berok never shared his distaste for Raslis with his brother because he didn't want to offend him or get beaten up once again. Shortly after the two boys got their gifts from their parents they got the news that Raslis had died. Though Berok saw that Vectrarc was distraught he couldn't help feeling relieved that Raslis was gone and now he and his brother can spend more time together. But he should've been careful wishing to have more time with Vectrarc. A few years later, Vectrarc and Berok were delivered the horrible news that their parents had died, it was then that Vectrarc had to assume the position of Berok's sole caretaker all up until he was kidnapped. Those four years where it was just Berok and Vectrarc where a complicated mix of depressing and bliss. It was what Berok had wanted for so long but he didn't think it would come like this. With no parents and his brother working all day long it was difficult to find time to hang out with each other but they found a way, every week Vectrarc got Taungsday off from work and on that day he and Berok would do whatever they wanted.
The Bothan people all abode by the same way of life, anything short of violence is perfectly acceptable and all Bothans were very skeptical of anyone they had just met. It takes either a long time or a great deal of shared pain to get past this part of any Bothan. That being said, Vectrarc lost his only friend and his parents, Berok idolized his older brother and put all of his energy and focus onto pleasing Vectrarc, so neither of them had anyone left to care about except each other.
One uneventful day when Vectrarc was at work and Berok had just gotten home from classes Berok had heard something crash to the ground and being the skeptical Bothan that he is decided to make sure no one was breaking in. He walked into the kitchen where the crash came from and what he saw shook him to his core. It was like he had seen a ghost, but this ghost was unlike anything in the stories because he pulled out a light blaster pistol and shot Berok. Berok later woke up in a dark room, not knowing where he is at all and started trying to break free when a silhouette stepped forward and introduced himself. He said his name was Raslis Ur'Nial and Berok grew more and more confused because This man standing in front of him was Vectrarc's old friend that had died nearly ten years ago.
As he went on, he explained that he was approached by a secret underground agency that was attempting to derail the Spynet. Raslis had to fake his own death and join the agency in order to save his family. His first mission was to take down the top agent, Torut Kri'Syk. Torut was Berok's father and truly was the top agent of the Spynet. Raslis was given very little time to train, only a few months. Torut caught word that someone was out to get him, went him and picked up his wife and tried to flee town. He knew that Vectrarc could take care of his brother and that would be a far better life than one on the run. Raslis tailed them, aimed at the engine of their speeder and fired his blaster pistol. Torut lost control of the speeder and got thrown from the vehicle right as it exploded. Raslis saw the explosion and saw that he had fulfilled his mission and returned to headquarters. Berok, wide-eyed the entire time, had untied his bonds from his wrists and was waiting for a chance to strike. He lunged forward and attacked when Raslis had his back turned but it was futile, because Raslis turned, quick-drew his blaster pistol, and shot Berok in the shoulder. At such a close range, it had done so much damage that Raslis decided to just amputate Berok's right arm.
After quite some time under the capture of Raslis, Berok heard someone coming, possibly to torture him some more. As the voice came closer and closer it also became more recognizable. Closer and louder the voice came, the sounds of blaster fire and punches growing louder as well. Then, everything was quiet, the door swung open and standing in front of a one armed Berok was Vectrarc, two Rodians, a Zabrak, a Gungan, and a medical Droid. Vectrarc spoke up with a smile on his face, a site no one has seen in a very long time, and said, "You're safe Berok, come with us. You can trust them, I do"
