Born and raised on Ord Mantell, Raano spent her adolescence between the duties of helping her mother run her shop, and hanging around the local spaceports where she listened to the spacers' tales with eagerness. Picking up tips and tricks that could be of use for her in the future.
Much like other Duros, she was born with a sense of adventure and exploration, and she dreamed to be the one to explore beyond the galaxy's edge and to leave this dumpster of a planet far behind her.

She was about 15 years of age when she ran from home and joined the smuggling crew The Middlemen. After weeks of socializing with parts of their crew, Raano had been offered a position to help with astrogation, as well as additional boots on the ground for when they needed it.
The years that followed were good years, filled with adventure and camaraderie, and with her skills she eventually landed the role as copilot.
But with the good stuff, the dark side of the outlaw life came. What dreams she had had of adventure and exploring, they were slowly forgotten as she lived more and more for the promise of money and of a fix. The adrenaline of living on the edge and risking ones life daily kept her engaged.

However, all good things must come to an end. And theirs came in taking on a daring job from Jinde Vazz, a Nautolan crimeboss, to smuggle a huge shipment to the Core Worlds. Apparently the Nautolan had some wild ambitions to set up a running operation in the Core, and The Middlemen would bring one of the cornerstones.
But when the crew arrived to their assigned delivery point, the Empire had been waiting for them. What followed was a ruthless shootout, and in the end only a handful of them managed to flee with their ship, but with the wares left behind.
When they managed to find a safer port, the remainder of the crew spread to the winds. Raano was left alone and forced to move on.

That was not the end of it. It didn't take long for the first bounty hunter to show up, and that's when she realized that Vazz believed this whole failure to be a betrayal by the Middlemen, and wanted them all taken in, dead or alive, to face their punishment.

Wanderlust and Novelty: Never having been the one satisfied with her place in the galaxy, Raano is one that avidly seeks new places and experiences. An ambition that has led her into some bad paths, as well as good ones.
