Background

Kassius was a young adolescent when the Clone Wars erupted throughout the galaxy, meaning he knew what it was like for his people during their prime, enjoying the lush, tropical environment of their homeworld. Many of his heritage took pride in Kit Fisto, the Jedi Master who served as one of the faces for species like themselves in the Jedi Order and Republic at large. But war came to their planet eventually, and afterward... The Empire. When the Empire's might came to the planet of Glee Anselm, many of the native Nautolan populace was forced from the planet's surface to their ancestral underwater homes. Kassius was force to retreat from the sunshine and warmth of his childhood, instead faced with the cold reality of Imperial discrimination for 'Xenos.'

Still, sweeps of recruiters would occasion the Nautolan populace, seeking potential aids to the Emperor's expansion. Strong workers, able to build massive structures underwater without needing a breath. Or, such as Kassius's case, those with knack and know-how to do more than just follow orders. As a young man, he was stripped from his familial home and adopted into the Imperial Navy. Promises of relief and aid for his parents and neighbors pushed the fledgling inventor to his limits, training both his mind and body to appease and impress the higher-ups. But decide his excellent merits, he would always be passed up by fellow human students. For years, he wallowed in the Academy, unable to advance while the Empire profited off his studies and mocked him for being a Xeno.

While the Battle of Yavin caused a stirring through Imperial ranks, the Mutiny on Mon Calamari struck a chord with Kassius. Aquatic aliens like himself, rebelling against the Imperial machine and joining a cause worth fighting for. Maybe. For weeks, he would stockpile spare parts from the same Gadgeteering 406 class he'd taken several times prior, eventually crafting an improvised explosive device. On a rainy Coruscanti night, Kassius set off the device, busting a hole in the structure and escaping in the chaos that followed. Descending into the lower levels of the planet, he pawned off a small, polished conch shell (a keepsake from his late grandmother) and boarded a freighter for a new start. In time, he fell in with anti-Imperial gangs, rather than the Rebellion, choosing to stick it to the Empire by raising fire and brimstone. His knowledge of Imperial operations, structural weaknesses, and vehicles made him an anarchistic threat to his oppressors, but they paled in comparison to the destruction of the Death Star II. Hearing the New Republic's call to action, he signed on immediately with his friends, a hotshot Pantoran pilot and an absolute meat grinder of a Zabraki merc. Together, they'd do some real damage, leaving petty vandalism, arson, and their former chains in the past.

Tear it All Down (Sabotage) - 5 - Kassius has been upfront about his propensity for explosives and exploiting weaknesses in Imperial structures, vehicles, and ships. He wants nothing more than to see monuments to the Empire torn down or otherwise destroyed, paving the way for new monuments to a more equitable and righteous galaxy in the future.

Description

Name: Kassius Jib
Height: 6'4"
Age: 40 standard years

Build: Broad and sturdy, like a tackling dummy packed with concrete. Seafoam green skin striped with semi-gray teal stripes stretching up his forearms, back of his calves, under his pecks, and down the length of each of his tendrils. When trapped in enclosed, dark spaces or deep underwater, these stripes glow a luminescent, icy blue, with crops of small, frecklish dots surrounding their edges in the same color. This is bright enough to illuminate parts of his form, but not cast a noticeable glow to illuminate the area around him or his allies.

Each of his biceps is wrapped in a triplet of leather straps, similar to those of Ahsoka Tano. A chorded mass of water-resistant leather also surrounds his abdominals, while his chest is kept bare beneath his greatcoat.
