Background

G3-N71's primary function is officially labelled as "information extraction" and "the pacification of unfavourable acquaintances." Two jobs he takes an almost orgasmic delight in.

G3-N71 was created by a brilliant, yet disturbed scientist. He is made up from the salvaged and repaired bodies of over 20 different droids. The scientist created G3-N71 as a desperate attempt to pay off his many debts. He never got the chance to do this however as shortly after his activation G3-N71 killed him and took off to explore the galaxy, partaking in many "unsavoury" activities and searching for a rumoured droid planet, to no avail. Several years later G3-N71 stumbled across a small skirmish between the Empire and Rebels. He gleefully took part in the battle, indiscriminately killing stormtroopers and rebels alike. Eventually he was subdued, and was taken by the rebellion for reprogramming. They foresaw a droid of his combat capabilities being very useful to them. They had far more trouble than anticipated however. G3-N71 had been built to resist potential tampering to a large degree of success. Memory wipes failed to work and the rebel techs only succeeded in programming the alliance as his new masters. His pschopathic personality remained completely in tact but he would be forced to obey the orders of the Alliance. After the tampering G3-N71 increased his security ten-fold to prevent any further attempts to change his personality. All further reprogramming attempts by alliance techs failed. G3 however could not fully rewrite his new programming, he has the ability to refuse orders that would result in his reprogramming or unavoidable death, but otherwise is compelled to obey.

He resents having to work for the rebellion. Many of his requests for more violent assignments are denied and as such rarely gets the chance to practice his more bloody skillset. Because of this he frequently bends his orders to incorporate his own brand of savagery; any loophole would be exploited to its fullest extent. As is to be expected this has had an adverse affect on his reputation, he is disliked greatly by the echelons of Alliance command because any orders he is given have to be looked over several times to ensure he doesn't compromise the alliance or harm innocents. While the Alliance highly dislikes the droid, they cannot release him as he knows too much about Alliance operations and security, yet they cannot dismantle him without many casualties. They also cannot deny he gets results.

Motivation

Quest: Freedom. G3-N71 is a firm believer in droid rights, he resents the way droids are treated by organics and is willing to fight tooth and nail (or circuit and servomotor as he is known to say) for their freedom and respect. This includes all class 1-4 droids.

Any organic caught mistreating a droid with G3-N71's presence is not going to have a pleasant and pain-free evening. Then again, any organic that meets G3-N71 is unlikely to have a pleasant and pain-free evening.

Duties

(89-96) Support: As the Alliance do not trust G3-N71 enough to give him any complicated tasks, he is left to support any and all Alliance operatives who come to him for aid.

Description

G3-N71 wasn't built with aesthetics in mind, in fact, quite the opposite. Many humanoids find him disturbing to look at, his presence inspires fear and many describe him as outright sinister. Even droids find him disturbing to see, as he is the equivalent of a droid Frankenstein’s monster. This suits G3-N71 well, considering his line of work. His body is made up of several irregular stacked discs, all of varying sizes and each capable of rotating independently. These discs are mostly storage compartments, and none are completely round, but with random edges, switches and lights interspersed around them. It gives his body a heavily contoured appearance. Much like an astromech droid his body is made up of many varying tools, from hydrospanners to blowtorches and even a few can openers. The main body of discs is roughly 1.5 metres high, with a diameter of 60cm and their shortest and 80 at their largest. The top most disc contains his two main arms, which are his most human-like features. They are long and spindly, his hands are akin to Human hands, possessing 5 fingers and a thumb, but the joints allow for a much greater range of motion. Meaning his fingers can fold up to his palm in both directions. Allowing him to grasp weapons designed for a multitude of different races. His wrists, elbows and shoulder joints can rotate freely and bend both ways without restriction. This means G3-N71 can make any face of his exterior is “frontmost” one simply by rotating his arm joints and spinning the shoulder disc accordingly. The bottommost disc has 4 legs attached to it evenly distributed about the disc. They aren’t as thin as his other appendages and culminate in blade-like feet. The legs are each 1.5 metres long when completely outstretched, however due to their formation they are very rarely this straight, and are generally between 60cm and 1.2 metres depending on the terrain and environment. The versatility of this structure allows him to traverse difficult terrain with ease. Each leg is exactly the same further adding to his lack of a front face. He moves with a spider-like grace, further adding to his disconcerting nature. There are many small joints at the very top of his legs, allowing for fine adjustments allowing him to tip his body so that it always remains level, akin to a gyroscope. His dextrous legs also allow him to adjust his height and centre of mass at will, to make himself smaller and more stable or taller and more intimidating.
His head is one salvaged from an old IG-86 droid, and remains mostly the same, save for a few added optical sensors and some exposed wiring. It is mounted atop an exposed spine-like neck joint.
His chassis is a dirty brown colour, covered in scratches and the occasional stain. He is constantly emitting strange clicking and whirring sounds, even when completely stationary.
