Background
Born in 68 BBY, Ru'Goruk has seen many things over the course of his life. Having lived the majority of his life in the Outer Rim on the Whiphid homeworld of Toola, he himself was mostly unscathed by major events such as the Clone Wars, the Galactic Civil War due to the planet's harsh conditions.
In his younger years, he learned much from tribe elders as he lived the nomadic lifestyle that is typical to Whiphids on Toola. At one point, he was approached by a robed Human who told him of his potential in the force. The man traveled with the tribe for a week's time, attempting to train and convince the young Whiphid. After seeing a vision of what Ru'Goruk now believes to be the destruction of the Jedi Order, he rejected the offer for formal training. He claimed the reason to be that his tribe and people on Toola need him when in fact he was deathly afraid of becoming part of the destroyed.
After one of his tribes decided to break, Ru'Goruk decided to pursue a new adventure. He embarked on his first off-world trip from Toola to the Mid-Rim. There, he encountered the Empire for the first time.
He heard of the terrible things the Empire was committing and did not believe that a power so great could wield it's strength so irresponsibly. He would find being an alien in Imperial space even more difficult due to their policies. After providing labor and other general work around the Mid-Rim. Ru'Goruk found himself worrying about his homeworld and those he missed.
Eventually, he would return to Toola and work his way up to lead his own tribe. The Imperial Remnant were ravaging the spaceports on the planet, taking supplies and causing shortages across the planet. After seeing a rival tribe nearby that was suffering greatly from the shortage, Ru'Goruk decided that he would give supplies that included necessary food to the tribe so that they would survive. This would spark outrage amongst some of his tribe members. A senior member of his tribe named Tuul would challenge Ru'Goruk's leadership of the tribe. This would unfortunately lead to his self-imposed exile from his own tribe.
While Ru'Gorek always had a connection to the Force, it never manifested itself in a way that he could comprehend. Like a river, the Force flowed through him, providing him strength but also overwhelming him at times. His exile would teach him to not rely on others as much, though he missed the warm feelings of being amongst a tribe. Ru'Gorek was approached by a mysterious robed Whiphid who offered him solace if he would join him in his travels. Those brief travels led to joining the New Jedi Order.

Minor - Kryll asked him about his ties to the previous council which brought up memories Ru has repressed. He responded by ignoring and walking away from the Sethari. Later on, the two apologized to each other and Ru stated he is not ready to talk of such things.
Major - No longer exiled amongst his tribe. When responding to a distress call from Toola, he confronted his old tribe which was a shadow of what they once were. His father now led the Turod which was in service to the Bruk'k, the same clan he helped so long ago. He found his mother nearly dead tied to a pole and miraculously succeeded at healing her gruesome wounds. Eventually, he would face the rival clan leader and strike him down using Ahn's lightsaber after the crystal called out to him, resulting in him becoming Spearmaster of the Bruk'k. Merging the tribes as the Turod-Bruk'k and to the surprise of many, he granted his father the title of Spearmaster. Knowing he now had a greater purpose, he promised he would regularly return.
Minor - Assembled a team for and planned his first NJO expedition (to Rhen Var).
Minor - Embraced being a teacher as his first steps in becoming a Jedi Knight. He knows he will be doing this a lot as part of his career.

Ru'Goruk has learned to always help the helpless when he can and that many evil beings suffer in ways they do not understand. Words and beliefs are not concrete like actions and do no such harm.
During the time when the Imperial Remant was ravaging his planet for supplies, Ru'Goruk provided necessary supplies to a rival tribe. One of his senior tribe members, Tuul, believed that Ru'Goruk had set up his tribe to fail. Having convinced many, Tuul challenged Ru'Goruk to an honor duel.
As the duel began, Tuul landed blow after blow on the Whiphid tribe leader. Ru'Goruk took these blows as he argued mid-combat that they could drop the honor duel and the tribe would be fine. Tuul ignored his words and continued his assault.
After the triber leader had enough of this onslaught, Ru'Goruk could see that Tuul would not reconsider his attack. There were many leaders like Tuul before in other tribes that Ru'Goruk had seen in his lifetime; Aggressive, reckless, and thoughtless. These types of actions led their tribes to doom and despair. Tuul would be no different. Ru'Goruk would never allow his tribe to suffer at the hands of an enemy, let alone a fellow tribesman. With his remaining strength, he began to strike back against his challenger, quickly beating him into submission.
Tuul attempted his best to parry the blows he now faced. Hatred took over Ru'Goruk as he saw his opponent as a manfiestation of suffering. The maul Tuul wield was knocked out of his hands right before he received a firm headbutt to his chest, the tribe leader's tusks briefly impaling him before falling back from the hit. As the challenger began to plead for his life, Ru'Goruk cut him off with a fierce blow to his head, crushing his skull.
As his opponent's corpse now lied before him, Ru’Goruk realized what he had done. While some cheered, he saw the fear in the eyes of those surrounding the duel. He had caused suffering this day and would deal no more. He nominated Juka as tribe leader before imposing exile upon himself.
Description
The 88 year old Whiphid stands at 2.5 meters tall (8'2"). Hiding behind the menacing tusks that protrude from his mouth is a friendly facial complexion. His tan skin is mostly hidden by his gray fur while his retractable eyes were solid black. His right arm and left leg are both cybernetic appendages as it has proven difficult to find Whiphid synthskin and faux fur.
