Noble Scion
Matteus was born into a noble family on the world of Kaon in the Tion Hegemony. His family had a strong martial tradition with Matteus's father captaining a Recusant Destroyer for the Confederacy during the Clone Wars. Although the Tion Cluster has not suffered as much as most under Imperial rule, Matteus knows that his home's relative autonomy is short-lived.
Expatriate Pilot
As soon as he came of age, Matteus joined the local security fleet. When the opportunity arose, he defected to a local Alliance cell along with other pilots and was eventually transferred to the Lantilles Sector. He was formally disowned by his family although he secretly received his parents' blessing. He now chooses to forsake wealth and comfort to fight to liberate his home, and the rest of the galaxy from Imperial rule.

Freedom
Whether his people are enslaved or he merely sees all Imperial rule as a form of slavery over the entire galaxy, this Player Character is driven to bring freedom to all. He serves in the Alliance for the sake of liberty, which means he will be watching carefully for any signs that the Rebellion might replace one form of tyranny with another. He does not believe that Tion will ever be free until the Empire is removed.
