Ansgar started in the propaganda branch of the imperial navy. Having been assigned on how to use the Death Star's might to increase moral among the troops. This was going well until the destruction of the death star. The branch Ansgar was in became a pandemonium and was assigned to a team of how to spin this into something to improve the empires image. Ansgar down after the destruction started working on this and went to a co worker to pitch his idea before he pitched it to the boss. The co worker loved it and helped make the idea better. Day of the pitch comes and Ansgar sees his co worker pitch his idea to the Boss. Sadden and Bitter Ansgar went up and tried to pitch the best he could failed. His boss enraged at what seemed to him a half hearted attempt said "We don't need anyone who won't put in their work for the Empire" and was reassigned Ansgar on the spot to some backwater planet as a negotiator.

After pleading with higher ups to be moved somewhere else they decided to double down and send him to Tatooine. Even more disheartened Ansgar tried to find ways to make more money so he could quit working for the Empire. Having found work as a fixer for various crime rings. One assignment he gave out went south and the people picked retaliated against who assigned the job a man named Hadedyl Balcort. Hadedyl worked for a Hutt named Teemo and when he was killed by a group Ansgar picked Teemo was furious. Ansgar knowing this probably would have angered the Hutt quit his position in the empire and decided to try and run.
