Despite being an Arkanian, Val's family was born in to the lower class of Arkanian society, before he was born his parents where forced to a mining settlement on a giant asteroid in the Perave System called Nochet Mining Colony, this Asteroid mega settlement houses 3.6 million inhabitants. Val Dengist was born on Nochet during a great Arkanian traditional celebration.
When Val was 8 both of his parents where mining on an asteroid, and due to badly maintained ships they lost control and crashed killing both, Val was put in the Nochet Orphanage but due to corruption most kids get sold to smugglers.
Being an Arkanian he was the most difficult kid to sell, most kids in the orphanage where usually other races, Arkanians tend to be rich and among the elite, due to the reputation of Arkanians buyers where too scared to buy an Arkanian kid, Arkanian society dont like other races meddling with their own even if their poor.
As Val couldnt be sold, he learnt the ways of the smugglers, bouncing from one group to another untill one day he meets this new group headed by a charismatic "Gossam" called Montyl Korrak, he sticks with them for a few years as they grow and gets experience, and Val eventually become the right hand man for Montyl, one day Montyl hatches a big smuggling plan, the largest Spice smuggling operation seen in the Perave System, Val is not sure about it as theres currently a big Imperial presence in the system, Montyl ignores Val and proceeds with the mission, Val has grown a strong friendship and camaraderie with the crew and feels like Montyl is puttin the crew in danger with such a big plan.
The day comes and the plan starts. All is going well, no Imperial sightings and things seem to be running well, they get need the border of the system and ready to jump but an imperial patrol group spotted them and ordered them to stop for a routine inspection, Montyl wants to outrun them but Val knows theres no point in running as we will get killed, Montyl again ignores him and tell the pilot "Full Speed!", as they start to leave, the Imperial patrol group fire their torpedoes, 2 miss but one hits one of the major engines and the ship cannot escape, Montyl not wanting to be captured enables self-destruct sequence on the ship, Val is enraged at Montyl shouting to the crew to evacuate using the pods, Montyl stays on the bridge and Val runs to the escape pods, Val managed to escape in a pod which was headed to large inhabitaded moon.
As the pods nears the orbit of the moon, Val can see from the small viewing window the ship explode, enraged he hopes Montyl died with the ship.
The pod lands on a remote section of the moon, but a mining drone detects the pod and informs one of the moons mining facilities, and a recovery teams recovers the pod and brings it to the facility.
