Background

The world is called Weik and your charcter has never left it. Overall, the world uses technology on a Bronze Age level or something more like Conan the Barbarian (chain mail would be a big deal). Really, its a fantasy world. The Force (not called the force there) is present and there are those who use it. They're known by many names, but usually its Sorcerer/Sorcery.
The region you are from, Numeria, is basically a wasteland. To the east, over the mindspin mountains, there are lands of emerald green forests, but the exceptional few leave Skyholme (the city you're from) let alone cross the mountains. Skyholme is an absolute dump, but it possesses allow its citizens a safety that is not offered beyond its metal walls. The Silver League, an organization of sorcerers and scholars, are the ones responsible for the comforts that city possesses. The League's members are the rare few who understand the workings of the technological wonders found throughout the wastes of Numeria. The common folk believe these arcane devices to be strange magic from beyond the stars, and cannot comprehend its use (besides the basic, user friendly tech, like blasters).
You were a member of the Silver League, but more an enforcer than a scholar. For years they trained you and brought you up to understand some of the "common" devices under their control. You were taught that the people were too simple to wield such power and that it would lead to disaster. Only the Silver League had the means of utilizing the marvels found in the wastes, and it was your job to make sure that technology stayed in their hands. [Continued]
But that was alot of blood to spill. Maybe it never sat right, or maybe it was one particular event (your call), but you defected and joined a group of rebels calling themselves the Returners. This small band of guerilla fighters do everything they can to get the power back to the people.

The League's prized possession, something you never had the chance to partake it, was delving into a site called "Silver Mount" (part of where they coined their name)

The ruler of Skyholme (your city) is this absolute bad ass named Kevoth-Khul "the Black Sovereign". Think Conan but with Cloud's sword

You left the Silver League, and for that, they attempted to kill you. They thought they finished the job, but you were found by the Returners.

The Returners are actually set up in a cave outside the city in the Wastes. There's a series of tunnels and chambers that lead to their lair.
There are other cells of resistance within the city, but it was this group that picked you up
