Background
1. Yurn was born with silver eyes, marking him as a Kel Dor with a strong connection to the Force. To hide his Force sensitivity from the Empire, he was sent into hiding with the Baran Do Sages.
2. Justice among the Kel Dor is often quick and without compromise, something Yurn himself learned first hand when he was tasked with carrying out the execution of a thief stealing from some of the planets weather monitoring stations. The fear and other emotions he sensed in the thief during the execution still haunt him.
3. Wanting to get away from his isolated hiding on Dorin, Yurn jumped at the chance to join the New Jedi Order after it's formation and contact with the Baran Do Sages. He got on pretty much the first shuttle leaving Dorin heading for Luke's Praxeum.
4. Hiqo Koon, Yurn's closest trainer and teacher among the Baran Do. Came to be something of a surrogate mother to him. Was also apparently related to some Jedi Master from the times before the Empire.
5. Coming across a young pickpocket on his shuttle ride to the New Jedi Order, Yurn was ready to do what any other Kel Dor would, and punish the criminal, but something he sensed told him to show mercy. Thinking on the haunting memory of his previous encounter with a criminal, he realized that there might be more to justice than just the black and white view back home on Dorin.
Comfortable with Tech: Having grown up on the fairly technologically advanced planet of Dorin, Yurn has a quite good grasp at most technology, maybe slightly less so than most others though, since he lived such a long time in hiding with the Baran Do Sages.
One with the Force: Yurn has been taught about the Force and how it's use by the Baran Do Sages has helped his people from a very young age, so he fully trusts the guidance of the Force.
With Great Power: Never having been one to just idly sit by and wait while injustices occur around the galaxy, Yurn always wanted to leave his hiding on Dorin and join the fight against the Empire. With that conflict now over, he has realized there are still plenty of dangers lurking in the galaxy, and sees it as his responsibility to help stop them and protect people.
Motivation
Cause:
Justice: In a galaxy full of wrongdoing, justice must be done. The character seeks to bring justice to those who deserve it, while helping victims of injustice to right the wrongs done to them.
Morality
Morality: 61
Justice: The character strives for just and deliberate
actions in his life, and in his interactions with others. He
attempts to make the objectively right choice every time,
knowing that justice is more likely to guarantee positive
outcomes than sympathy or other emotional displays.
Cruelty: All too often, the cruel use justice to excuse
their actions. If one stops himself from tempering justice
with empathy and understanding, he can inflict great
harm on others and feel justified doing it. Eventually, he
can grow to revel in the suffering of others, even as he
deludes himself into thinking he makes the "just" choice.
Duty 10:
Justice – It is not enough to pursue justice – this player character's duty within the New Jedi Order is justice. Whether it is bringing criminals to a court of their peers or making sure good actions do not go unrewarded, being a bringer of justice to the galaxy has always been a Jedi Knight's first mission.
Description
Yurn Buuno was born on Dorin in 5 BBY, at the height of Imperial rule in the galaxy. Much to his parents horror, he was born with silvery eyes, marking him as a strongly Force sensitive Kel Dor. Knowing what the Imperials would do the child his parents had no other choice than to turn to the Baran Do Sages. Not really seeing them as much else than old reclusive soothsayers, Yurns parents still saw them as the best hope for their child, and thus sent him into hiding among them.
Unkown to his parents, the sages were a bit more than just fortune tellers, and from as soon as he could walk and talk, Yurn was taught about the Force. His first real contact with the Force came when he realized that he sometimes could sense the emotions of people he was close to. Life among the Baran Do passed quite uneventfully for the most part, though not knowing his parents always weighed on Yurn. Eventually he came to see one of his teachers, Hiqo Koon as something of a surrogate mother to him. She would often tell him stories of one of her distant relatives, a great Jedi Master during the waning days of the Old Republic.
A quite abrubt change to the uneventful nature of his existence among the sages came when he was out getting some supplies in one of the close by villages. A thief had been caught stealing parts from the villages weather station. These slightly more isolated villagers still trusted in the advice of the Baran Do, and knowing by now that Yurn was one of them, they asked him to deliver justice to the thief. Knowing what was expected among Kel Dor and, despite sensing the fear and turmoil of emotions in the thief, Yurn carried out the execution. The decision still haunts him to this day. Life among the Baran Do felt wrong ever since, he felt like he didn't really belong there. Yurn couldn't shake the feeling that maybe he made the wrong decision. Feeling more and more anxious to leave and head out to the world, the news of the Empires defeat came as especially happy news to Yurn. He would no longer have to hide in exile in a remote corner of Durin. Even better news came as the sages contacted the New Jedi Order formed by Luke Skywalker. As the two orders devoted to the Force wanted to cooperate, an invitation to train further at the new Jedi Praxeum was extended to the Baran Do Sages. Already ready to leave, Yurn jumped at the opportunity and accepted the invitation. But before he would get to the academy, the Force still had something more in mind for him.
While on the shuttle ride to the Praxeum, Yurn happened to catch a young pickpocket. Once again faced with doing what was expected among Kel Dor, Yurn this time felt something guiding him to be merciful, that is exactly what Yurn did, and merely scolded the teen and had him return the stolen items. Sensing afterwards that it was the Force that had guided him, this time he felt like he did the right thing, and Yurn came to realize that there might be more to justice than the black and white view of the Kel Dor.
Appearance: A pretty large and strongly built Kel Dor, standing at about 1,85 meters tall. Yellowish orange skin. His most outstanding features, when not wearing his mask and goggles, are his silvery eyes.
