Background
Lance has spent the past several years scavenging, relic-hunting, procuring rare objects for those who can afford them. He possesses Doctorates in Archaeology, as well as Security Management, neither of which he actually earned. He did spend nearly a decade at the University of Bar'leth, until his unknowing benefactor's assets were frozen. Mostly for the young females. Apart from xenophysiology, he retains a random smattering of knowledge from his intermittent studies, and is good at finding the answers he doesn't have. His mother, investigative reporter Ani-Skel Deckard, has recently gone missing while on assignment at the Ring of Kafrene...
Motivation
Treasures: Some hunt it for the glory. Some hunt it for the challenge. Most treasure hunters do so, however, for the opportunity to fill their accounts with more credits than they can imagine spending in one lifetime. Whether it's a cache of precious gems stashed away long ago by decades-dead pirates or the incalculable worth of art and crafts from an eons-dead civilization, treasure hunters know there are immense riches out there in the galaxy just waiting for them to find where X marks the spot.

Description
Deckard stands just over 6 feet in height, weighing in at ~180 lbs. Brown hair, always perfect, in an unkempt sort of way. Green eyes. Sincerely charming when he wants to be.. and insincerely charming when he doesn't. Enjoys the sound of his own voice, and a cold beer. Not so fond.. of being a fraud. Now trying to put his questionable skills to use in locating his missing mother, accepting other jobs as necessary, to fund his search.
