Background
Dad has been a pilot and a part of Spynet my whole life, always working hard for the betterment of the family, and ultimately the clan. He and mom lived on Bothawui, until I came around. At that point, he moved the family to Krant. Its quiet here, not as much city...safer, I guess. He wasn't around as much as mom would have liked, but when he was, we were a happy little family, especially when Zikri was born. We would take trips into town, camp in the mountains or rent a little skiff outside Le'Roche and sail around the island. At some point when I was little, he decided I would make a perfect pilot and I was over the moons. It meant more time with him, learning about something he loved to do.
Fast forward some years, and he tells us as a family that he volunteered on a mission that would hopefully be one of his last. He was tired, and wanted to spend more time with us. "You girls are growing up so quickly, and I'm missing out". He mentioned he would take on a ship and do shipments or run shuttles to nearby planets, to make sure we had income to survive on. But it would mean I would help him. I was nervous but excited to expand my skills beyond doing simple supply runs with any merchant that would let me on their ship between local planets.
Everything stopped for a while. From the whispers we heard, something big was coming from the Alliance. We were pretty much neutral when it came to the Empire verses the Rebels, but all signs pointed to a major change to the political system as we knew it. Everyone hunkered down, waiting for some sort of news. Eventually, after about a week, we heard news. A small crew of Bothans were included in a mission to intercept an empire freighter with supposed secret information, including my father. Word was they had all died in the fight. Imagine our shock when he turned up on our doorstep, wounded but very much alive. He said we need to lay low, and that there was still much to come.
We didn't have to wait very long to hear that the Rebels had destroyed another Death Star around Endor and the emperor had been killed. The Empire had fallen. Everyone rejoiced that night, with parties carrying on long into the evening. The following days were joyous, including the day Spynet came to check on my dad and invited both of us to the headquarters on Bothawui. Little did I know that this trip would change my life as I knew it.
Once we were settled into our quarters, we were summoned to a large conference room, with a few Bothan awaiting us. Turns out this was a meeting to negotiate my father's "retirement" or quiet dismissal from the organization. I couldn't understand why there was tension and hostility in the air, until I gathered my courage and and asked what was going on. Father was forced to tell me that he had been a part of the mission to the Suprosa, and that he had known about the trap the rebels and his fellow spies were falling in to. He was persuaded and paid by a friend, now known to be an imperial spy, to keep that Intel to himself. He knowingly allowed fellow bothan to die when he could have prevented it. Not to mention he made a handsome profit from it. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, but it was all coming right from him.
Because of his injuries, and a serious lack of trust from the higher ups within spynet, my father was no longer useful, so it was left to me as his oldest child to continue his work. If I worked hard enough and brought in important Intel or better yet, informants, our "debt" could be paid off, and our family name restored...as far as spynet was concerned. If not, everyone would know what really happened at the cruiser on that mission. That set me on my current path....to restore my family name from whatever disgrace was brought on it by my own Father.
