Background

Oskana Zert was raised in the Jedi temple as a youngling. In her teen years, she came into the full possession of her Zeltron heritage. The nonstop attention directed at her made it hard to excel in her studies, and she fell behind the curve for Jedi initiates of her age. The council taught the fledgling padawans that they were responsible for their own temptation and behaviour, but their fixation was still disruptive. Zert began finding herself training among padawans 10 years her junior.

When the Clone Wars broke out, no amount of admonition could prevent Zert from distracting the force-grown, repressed child-men of the clone army she was meant to fight beside. Granting her an expedient promotion to Knight, the Jedi reinstituted the ancient Wayfinder path: a program instituted after the fall of the Sith Empire to seek out dark force users before they can grow in power.

Zert was under no illusions that it was a method of removing her as a problem, but it granted her a freedom and an autonomy that is rare for an upjumped aging padawan. She scouts outer rim worlds, explores ruins, and attempts to find other cultural practitioners using the force. Kind of an extended solo camping trip on the periphery of a galactic civil war. Truly a cool, normal thing.

Her reports, seldom interesting, are filed with Master Plo Koon, who already has a lot on his plate.

Motivation

Ambition.

Before the events of this adventure, I think Zert's main motivation was her mission, finding force users outside of the Jedi paradigm. However, I think this goal was selfishly motivated -- driven by the desire to be praised, rewarded, appreciated.

She's also wondering whether her travels will lead her to another way of connecting with the force, outside of the dogma of the Jedi order. If only someone could give her a sign, maybe she could walk away. She may be able to amount to more outside of their ranks.

But I assume that will change in the course of play.

Morality

Emotional Strength: Curiosity.
Zert finds experiencing new environments edifying, and enjoys meeting and learning about new people. This appreciation for life in all of its configurations aids in her connection to the living force. She is seldom judgmental when confronted with unusual customs or behaviours, knowing that many things are neither good nor bad, but simply are.

Emotional Weakness: Obsession.
Zert is extremely lonely, and hyperfixates as a means of distracting herself. Her obsessions are important, but also mask frustration, entitlement, and a desire for attention. For this reason, her dedication is precarious. Connection to the living force can be a source of strength, but favouring impermanent living creatures can estrange a Jedi from the cosmic force.

Morality Score: 50
I think that although she is a light side force user, her morality has never been tested.

Description

Oskana is a 30-year-old Zeltron woman. Her violet eyes pop against her pink skin. She wears a severe undercut, with a jagged flop of purple hair flipped to one side. Both ears bear many piercings, all in simple silver jewelry. While on missions, she typically wears heavy survival gear -- a large camoflage jacket and fatigue pants with heavy waterproof boots, an enormous rucksack covered in pouches, and her heavy blaster slung over her shoulders. Her lightsaber is ever fastened at her hip.

When caution is required, Zert often conceals her appearance entirely behind a mask - a respirator connected to a pair of electrobinocular goggles. In situations where she prefers not to risk any contact, she sends her surveillance drone ahead, monitoring its footage in an integrated wrist-mounted datapad.
