Background
Yates Do-Rann was born in 35 BBY to a small-time Corellian trader named Habad Rann and a soon-to-be disintegrated Twi’lek named Heza Do.
Heza was turned in for crimes committed on Ryloth, the Twi’lek homeworld that Heza once called home. She had turned in opposition to the Empire once aid from the Galactic Republic had ceased. She was a warrior first and a rebel second, sparing no sacrifice for her cause. After escaping to Corellia for work and a potential new life, Heza met Habad and the two soon settled down.
Heza’s execution came as no surprise to Yates or Habad, the two of them having taken up work under the Empire by 20 BBY. They grew up with a strong familiarity to Imperials standards and laws.
With Habad’s passing in 15 BBY, Yates took up the combined family name of Do-Rann, in honor of his late mother and father. While never picking a side in the Rebel/Empire conflict, Yates has followed whichever source offers the most income. He ran interplanetary trades through a decommissioned Imperial Star Destroyer from 15 BBY to 5 BBY, leaving his post around the time that rumors of a supreme weapon were spreading across the galaxy.
Yates has run odd jobs ever since leaving Corellia. Along his exploits in the Outer Rim, Yates has crossed paths with Deekon Bloo more than once. The two have partnered since word of the Empire's fracture has started to circulate.
Do-Rann is obsessed with Imperial technology and ships. He hopes to one day command an Imperial Star Destroyer, similar to the one he worked on on Corellia. Though he wishes to do so free of Imperial influence. He's been avidly obsessed with Republic and Imperial cruisers since he was a boy.
