Background
Jahna generally keeps quiet about herself, and what she's been through. Hailing from the broken core world of Metellos, she managed to survive the Orbital Bombardment of Admiral Delvardus during Operation Shadow Hand, but the rest of her family was not so fortunate. Left an orphan during the cleanup of the shattered urban world, Jahna found she had to survive on her own, taking up the life of a street urchin and living off the scraps of food she could gather or steal. She found that at times, doing so was easy, people seemingly overlooking her at times. She did this unknowing that it was the Force aiding her, and she became to rely on this ability to misdirect instinctively.
As she grew up, she found herself having to take more extreme measures to survive. Once, when she was still on the streets, she managed to steal a full ration pack from an aid worker's station and hid herself in one of the ruins to break open the treasure and begin scarfing it down. However, an older man, crippled by an injury from the bombardment, noticed she had stolen the item and sneaked up to her, beating her with his crutch and stealing the food. It was in a flash of anger and rage that she turned on the man, a bloody wound on her head fresh from his beating, and while the man was tearing into the ration pack, Jahna's youthful hands found a large piece of rubble, and smashed the man's head with the rock. Immediately, she felt the sickness of regret, and vomited up the contents of her portion of the ration. Unable to cope, she ran and hid as best she could for a handful of weeks, wracked with guilt and sickness. When she finally came out of hiding, her resolve began to be forged into a steely determination: no ration pack was worth that.
She began to work on her sense of justice born from that incident, and worked to steal more to provide for those around her that couldn't provide for themselves, rather than for her mere survival. She had to be better than that. In addition, she began to work against the various ruffians that were ruling the lower levels and the forgotten zones of Metellos. Slowly, she worked to bring some sense of justice to the people being preyed upon, usually sneaking into some gang's hideout and stealing the items they stole or extorted after stunning them with their own weapons or stun grenades she would barter with. Though those who committed murder in their extortion would not find such mercy.
In fact, it was during one such action that a Jedi Knight (Selene Trilyon) who was travelling to Illum, having stopped at Metellos to procure some provisions before their jump into the remote world, was drawn by the Force to witness one of her actions. Following her through the scene, they watched as she followed a gang from a fresh robbery and assault of a family. She took her time to set up a series of stun grenades to go off simultaneously, and used her own pistol to finish off anyone not stunned before alerting the local police forces of the gang's crimes, and evidence to make sure they would be locked up.
When Jahna retreated to her own hide out, a modest grotto under some rubble, the Selene stepped out and introduced themselves. Letting her know that She was only passing through, though she was impressed by her work, and her sense of Justice. Selene had watched her since the robbery, and applauded her skill and tactical sense. Offering to take her with, the Jedi promised she would be brought to people she could learn from, to become a better agent of Justice. It took only a little more convincing to bring Jahna off Metellos, where she would officially join the others in training at Yavin IV. It was then that Selene worked to be a bit of a mentor for her, opening her connection to the Force a little more to sense her surroundings.
Motivation
Connections: No one. She never had much in her life, but what she had was stripped away. This has forced a self-reliance on only herself and her capabilities, and she is slow to make friends. Once she makes friends, they are stronger than duraplate.
Oath: Justice. Living alone on her own, without anyone for support caused her to see life from the lowest possible point. She experienced abuse and cruelty callously, and saw those who were supposed to protect people abuse their authority to inflict greater cruelty. Now that she is in a position to do something about it, she will always try to step in, or rectify the situation as best she can.
