Celzan was always realistic about things. He would always be a second hand citizen, but a useful tool is seldom discarded. He applied himself to being a ship mechanic, he was going to lead a quiet, boring, and hopefully long life.
His brother, Gaanzer, had other ideas. The elder Hok turned to smuggling, to illegal tech, to every shortcut and money making scheme he could think of.
And most infuriatingly of all, he always got away with it.
Celzan isn't entirely sure of what happened, but one day, he was detained and interrogated for days about his brother, his work, his whereabouts. Either found innocent, or otherwise unimportant enough, he was let go, only to find that he could no longer find employment. His applications were rejected almost immediately, he was summarily evicted from his hab block. His accounts were frozen. His brother was nowhere to be seen.
With no other choice, he turned to jobs that were illegal, violent or both. Eventually he scrapped enough credits and spread them around, getting himself a Bounty Hunter license, so he could at least claim an honest living.
