DEFECTOR
Wilmé Dhireng was born to a wealthy, politically-connected family on Naboo. Her parents were great admirers of the late Queen and Senator Padmé Amidala, but with the end of the Clone Wars they followed the lead of Quarsh Panaka and threw their loyalty behind Palpatine's New Order. Wilmé, then only a toddler, was brought up with the expectation of service to the Empire and attended the Royal Imperial Academy on Coruscant.
Wilmé was extremely dilligent in her studies and a model cadet; however, despite her record her loyalty was continually tested by the Office of Student Outcomes, and she was handed rather harsh punishments after being entrapped into a series technical rules violations. Rather than inculcating her with the desired belief that the Empire was always right, no matter how arbitrary its decisions seemed, this pattern led Wilmé to doubt the Empire's commitment to justice and the rule of law. Outwardly, however, she proclaimed she understood the importance of unquestioning obedience, and was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the ISB at the conclusion of her time at the Academy.
Assigned to monitor the activities of the Naboo delegation to the Imperial Senate, Wilmé was present when Mon Mothma gave her speech condemning the Ghorman Massacre. Appalled by both the revelation and the Empire's reaction to it, she found herself no longer able to work within the system, and used the ISB's hunt for the fugitive ex-Senator as cover to seek out the Rebellion.
The Rebels on Yavin 4 were equally impressed and appalled by Wilmé's discovery of their base. Having demonstrated her loyalty to General Draven by showing how she'd covered both her own tracks and theirs in turn, making the base more difficult for the Empire to discover, Wilmé is a newly-commissioned of Lieutenant in Alliance Intelligence.

BELIEF: THE REPUBLIC
Having had her faith in Imperial order shattered by the revelations of the price of maintaining it, Lieutenant Dhireng has committed herself to the restoration of the old Republic. Order imposed by force cannot bring stability or harmony; individual liberty and planetary autonomy will not only bring peace to the galaxy but preserve it.

At only 22 years of age and a mere 1.62 meters tall, Lieutenant Dhireng isn't an immediately imposing figure – but cool, collected, and competent, she quickly remedies any notion that she can be easily dismissed. After years of Imperial uniformity, Wilmé has looked to her heritage as a means of expressing both her own individuality and her devotion to the democratic ideals of the old Republic, wearing a jumpsuit styled after items worn by Naboo's Royal Security Forces and the late Senator Amidala.
