Ryul is an a genetically modified Arkanian, created by one of the many scientists that experimented on their own race mixing the genetics of the Arkanian's with Human genetics. He was originally assigned to work as a guard on a transport vessel that transported the rare gemstones from the Arkanian home planet to other markets across the galaxy.

Ryul served for many years under Captain Forr. Captain Forr took Ryul as a mentee and taught Ryul everything he now knows about both negotiating a good deal and sword fighting. Captain Forr believed that words were always what should come first in any situation. During trade missions, Captain Forr would teach Ryul the ins-and-outs of trading and how to "charm" their buyers to get a better deal. Ryul also took his mentor's mentality that while blasters may be effective, a sword allows a man to truly understand his enemy.

One day the transport to which Ryul and Captain Forr were assigned was attacked by a group of pirates trying to steal the many Corusca gems they were transporting. Captain Forr never would have let them aboard the ship where it not for his second in command, Davin Silero, and a group of others with him that betrayed him. They took command of the ship and allowed the pirates to board and steal all of the gems. As they left the ship, Davin drew his blade and severely wounded Captain Forr so that they wouldn't follow them. The Captain was rushed to the nearest medical center but died before they could get him there.

Ryul took the betrayal personally and vowed that he would find Davin and avenge the death of Captain Forr. He honors the capitan by using the captains name, Kardal, as his second name. The sword cane that Ryul carries belonged to Captain Forr and Ryul promised that he would use it to defeat anyone who stood in his way.

Ryul opens his eyes on the grassy surface of an island in the middle of a vast lake. He looks around, seeing another island across the lake with what looks like some other people on it. Standing up, Ryul slowly walks down to the edge of the water. He covers his eyes with his hand from the sun in an attempt to get a better estimate on the distance between himself and the island. As he does, a flash catches his eye. Something catching the sun and reflecting it back at him. It's a familiar shape that he knows from somewhere.... somewhere... but he can't place it. Kneeling down, Ryul moves his hand slowly towards the item in the water. As his hand breaks the surface, the water shoots up around him, engulfing him and pulling him down.

He struggles to break free of the water, but it's as if it has a firm grip on him, not letting him go and dragging him along its vicious path. Tumbling and twisting Ryul fights but can't gain any leverage to break free from the current. He opens his eyes for a moment to see the rocky walls of a mine flying by him. No longer is he being pulled down but now pushed along, careening though a long narrow cave. His face breaks the surface for a moment and he catches a breath before being pulled down again. The current drags him back under and as he fights, the water slams him forcefully against the wall. The impact knocks him senseless and Ryul feels his limbs go numb. Floating now, the water carries him along, sinking deeper, and deeper, and deeper, and then nothing. Darkness.

A hand takes hold of Ryul's hand and pulls him upright and out of the darkness! The ensuing light blinds Ryul and at first he can't see who pulled him up, though as the light fades, he recognizes the face of the Arkanian man before him. The blonde hair that this Arkanian has is not a commonality among the race, and it made for a very identifying feature. The blue eyes, so similar to those of Ryul, brought back so many memories, so many feelings, of confidence and learning. Standing there in the walkway of what appeared to be a freighter, leaning slightly on a cane with a hilt reflecting the lights from the room, was Ryul's mentor.

"Captain Forr" Ryul manages to say. Ryul looks around, trying to understand where he is and why he is there. "What is going on?" he asks the captain. Captain Forr smiles and turns to start walking down the hallway and around a corner. As he does, Ryul starts after him and then realizes where he is. 'This is Captain Forr's ship!' he thinks to himself. He smiles as the feeling of being home surrounds him, warm and calm.

Ryul turns the corner and in front of him is a beautiful arkanian woman with white hair matching Ryul's and light green eyes. She seems somewhat panicked as Ryul approaches her and she runs up to him and embraces him. Ryul holds her for a moment and then pushes her back to arms length. "Aleena, what's wrong? Why are you here on the ship?"

"Ryul, I'm glad that I found you! You have to warn Captain Forr! Quickly!" She says breathlessly. "Davin is against us! He's working with the pirates!" Shock courses through Ryul as he realizes what is happening. "Come on!" Aleena says as she turns around and takes off towards the front of the ship. Ryul takes off after her but as he runs he seems to fall farther and farther behind. He yells after her but she doesn't respond. Ryul runs harder as she goes through the door at the end of the hallway.

As Ryul reaches the door, he throws it open and before him sees a crowd of faceless men, with one in particular standing over the body of another. "NO!" Ryul screams and charges into the room. The man standing over the body turns to face Ryul and shows his face. Ryul comes to a halt as sees a face identical to his own though horribly disfigured.

"You let this happen!" The man yells at Ryul. "It's because you were ignorant to what was going on around you! Things would be different if you had been better." After a small pause the man screams and points at the body, "He is dead because you were weak!" Ryul falls to his knees in despair as the man walks slowly up to him, unholstering a blaster pistol. "...Because you ARE weak" the man finishes, emphasizing every word. He levels the pistol at Ryul and with a click everything goes dark.

Motivation

Quest - Vengeance : Ryul set out on his journey looking for Davin Silero to avenge the death of his mentor. One day he will find him and kill him.
Belief - Words : Capitan Forr taught Ryul the importance of words before weapons. Ryul prefers to use words to solve problems.

Obligations

Disgraced +10 - Being a genetically engineered Arkanian is something that is looked down upon in the Arkanian world by some. A large group of pure blood Arkanians, or "purists" feel that the offshoots are a disgrace to their culture and should be eliminated. Because of this, Ryul must constantly be wary when other Arkanians are nearby.
Betrayal +10 - Ryul's mentor, Capitan Forr, was betrayed and killed by Davin Silero, his second in command and friend to Ryul, in a pirate raid. Ryul took the betrayal personally and has vowed to find and kill Davin with the very sword that Capitan Forr wielded. Ryul is constantly searching for clues as to Davin's whereabouts, to the point where he would drop almost anything to follow even the smallest trail.

Description

Ryul is an Arkanian offshoot. He has an appearance similar to that of a human, however he has the stark white hair that is common among the Arkanian race. He has deep blue eyes and a more grey toned skin. He is relatively tall and toned.
