Background
Anaya Kairavi is a Mirialan tech from Samovar. She grew up on a farm, helping her family by programming and maintaining worker droids. As a teen and young adult, Anaya built some modest savings by driving a transport through town. Still, she craved more excitement than her little town offered. Then she fell for Jad, a human dock worker distrusted by her family, who promised she would find that excitement with him by joining up with a smuggling crew that came through.
Anaya used her savings to outfit herself and her new boyfriend with weapons and gear, earning them enough credibility to get recruited for a job off-world. Her mechanics and computer skills translated into useful contributions in fixing equipment and maintaining computer systems on the jobs they took.
Unfortunately, she was already worlds from home when she realized Jad had ulterior motives. After he left her vulnerable on a simple run, she wanted to return home, only to learn that the Empire had seized her hometown because of its proximity to a Dolovite source, and had compelled her family into servitude as miners.
Now she's committed to building a reputation as a reliable hire as she tries to save credits, assemble resources, and concoct a plan to eventually go and extract them. She'll take any job and join any crew that will help her reach that goal.
Motivation
Anaya's primary motivation is freedom, both for herself and ultimately for her family. The Empire stands in the way of this for Anaya, and their recent takeover of her home planet and destruction of her family's farmlands highlights just how much she despises them for destroying her family's freedom.
Obligations
Family: Her ultimate allegiance is to them, and she suffers immense guilt over running away against their wishes, finding their suspicions to be correct, and learning of their recent fate as servants of the Empire. Rescuing them is the only way she'll be free of this guilt.
Description
Anaya is a bit introverted. She connects deeply with people she trusts, but with that trust recently shattered, she's freshly wary of others and their motivations. She prefers to stay emotionally distant and always on the alert. She enjoys making machines work, fixing tech, working out code; challenges she can tangibly solve with her considerable prowess in these areas.
This doesn't mean she's not a team player, though. She enjoys the feeling of contributing to a group's success. She takes pride in her work; she wants others to recognize her skills and find them useful.
Anaya's a bit naïve and still has an excessively simplistic view of the galaxy, having spent most of her life on a farm. Still, she follows holo-news avidly, and she spent enough time transporting light cargo out of the port that she learned a lot about travelers and the worlds they came from.
She has a good command of Binary and can manage basic interactions in a variety of common galactic trade languages, including Sy Bisti, Hutt, Rodese, Dosh, and Durese. She's a quick learner who is eager to understand the galaxy better.
