Background

Calon Dymos was born the only child of offworld traders from the planet of Ord Mantell. They would spend many months at a time out salvaging wreckage throughout Mid Rim and Outer Rim space and bring it back to sell. Once he was old enough to be left on his own, Calon’s parents would allow him to stay behind while they were out searching for goods to sell. They would always return with a huge haul to sell. As soon as it was all sold Calon’s parents would take off again. During this time, Calon learned how to rely on himself. He would live off what his family would leave for him on their long trips. They would typically only be gone for about 3 to 6 months while searching. This last time they left, after about 4 months, Calon began to have a bad feeling that something had happened to his parents. They never returned. He tried to take over the business but with nothing to sell; he had to get a real job and sell his parent's shop. He started working as a bartender at the local cantina. It was a simple life, but it was now his and he was determined to make the most of it.

[P]While wandering through the market square one day, Calon sensed that he was being watched. When he looked around, he could see nothing out of the ordinary so he made his way back home. Upon reaching his house, once again, he felt that someone was watching him. Calon again, looked around and saw nothing but had a feeling of dread come over him. Calon quickly entered the home and locked the door behind him. Inside, the lights were all out and he was unable to see much of anything except for some silhouettes from sunlight streaming in between the shades. He reached about to switch on the light and then froze in place when he realized that he was not alone in the room. Just then, he turned around to see the shape of a humanoid about 5 meters away. Calon tried to speak but could only get out, “Who”? The man lifted his finger to his mouth and said, “Shhh…Stay down”. Immediately, the man exploded into movement as a silver blade of light appeared in his hands whirring through the air. Calon quickly dropped to the ground and crawled to the corner of the room. All he could see was flashes of light as the man expertly flipped and tumbled around the room dodging blaster fire and slashing at unseen enemies with his weapon. During the fight, one of the other shapes moved toward Callon to strike him down. His light sword went up and then down toward Calon's head. Just then, the other shape was there deflecting the blow but not the tip of the sword which grazed Calon's face. The burning sensation was almost too much to bare as he grabbed at his eye. As quickly as it had begun, the battle ended and again the room was dark. As Calon’s eyesight adjusted to the dark, he could make out a shape standing over something else and then it turned toward him. As the shape made its way over to him, Calon was frozen with fear and clutching his face where the attack had grazed him. The shape reached out with his hand, grabbed Calon and pulled him to his feet. “We need to get out of here, kid,” the man said. “What is going on and who are you?” asked Calon. The man responded with a gruff, “I just saved your life but not for long because more are coming.” The man quickly wrapped Calon's head with a cloth and lead him out of the house. They made their way to a junk pile in the alley behind Calon's home and the man quickly toppled off the boxes and loose bits to reveal a speeder bike. They both climbed onto it and raced away out of the city and into the vast wildlands. Calon was still trying to piece together what had happened when they began to slow and then stopped in front of a small cavern overgrown with vegetation in the middle of nowhere. “We’re here,” the man said. “I’ll explain everything inside but we should hurry before someone sees us.” The man threw an active camouflage cover over the speeder and made his way into the cave. Calon stood outside for what seemed like hours before the man popped his head back out and said, “You coming?” Calon apprehensively made his way into the opening of the cavern to find that it was surprisingly large inside. It appeared that the man had lived there by himself for quite some time with loose bits of junk strewn about.

[P]Over the next several hours, the man explained who he was and what happened back there and treated Calon's wound. Calon would have a nasty scar but was otherwise unharmed. The man explained that his name was Marek and he had been keeping tabs on Calon for a while even before his parents had disappeared. Marek could sense that Calon was different like him and had a connection to the Force. Marek was a Jedi once but became disillusioned with the bureaucracy and meddling in the affairs of the galaxy especially the Clone War so he cut himself off and went to a place where he could just blend in and be alone with his thoughts. Marek explained that he would like to see those that are Force sensitive to just be a part of the galaxy like any other individual. Force Sensitives should be allowed to make their own destiny without being governed by religious tenants or strict guidelines to adhere to. He felt that the Jedi Order was just as responsible for the current state of the Galaxy as the Galactic Empire. Marek could sense the potential in Calon and was looking for an opportunity to get closer to him. It turned out that someone else had his eyes on Calon as well. The Emperor has been rounding up all Force sensitives to purge or in rare cases train as Jedi hunters. Those creatures in Calon’s home were there to collect him and Marek saved him. It was quite a bit for Calon to take in but suddenly many events in his life made sense and with the loss of his parents, he decided to spend his time with Marek and be trained by him.

[P]Throughout his training, Calon had an uncanny ability in acrobatics and that only grew as he continued training. Marek taught him how to use the force to enhance his physical abilities and allow him leap long distances. Over the years, Calon became stronger in his use of the Force and lightsaber combat. Marek even showed Calon how to build his own training lightsaber. One day, when returning from the city market, Calon sensed something was wrong. He slowly entered the cavern to find it in shambles and the lifeless body of Marek on the floor. It appeared that the Emperor’s search party had found them and in his old age, Marek was no longer able to defend himself like he used to. Marek’s lightsaber was destroyed in the battle. Calon decided it was time to leave and find his own place in the galaxy.

Motivation

Callon believes in himself and his own abilities and continues to train to keep his skills sharp.

Callon spent several years with his mentor Marek training in the use of the Force and lightsaber techniques. After Marek's death, Callon would like to see agents of the Emperor pay dearly.

Morality

Ready to make his mark and a name for himself, Callon charges in to everything he does. Usually without thinking about it first or the consequences.
