IG-J12 was owned by kas tivara a renowned black market droid technican who did work for many different criminal organizations and to earn extra credits he would allow them to temporarily utilize J12's services for a fair price but despite what one might think kas cared deeply for J12 the two having a bond similar to a father and his son but unfortunately tragedy struck kas was murdered by an assassin saan bas a human from corellia this led to J12 swearing revenge against those responsible for kas's death he started by tracking down and killing the man who hired saan toz draab a lieutenant in gang known as the blue rancors afterwards he joined the bounty hunters guild in hopes that it would provide him with the resources to find saan bas J12 would go on to have multiple encounters with bas in which bas would repeatedly escape his clutches which would only further drive J12 to hunt him
