Willie comes from a family of archaeologist. His father, Willemstad, is a university professor of Archaeology. He became famous for discovering a cave where once Sith had resided. After this, he and the family were invited for a lot of places, conferences, guest speaking at universities (Willie's mom is his father's research assistant...and bodyguard). They gathered a significant amount of wealth this way, but they lived n adventurous life while providing their kids, Willie and Walt, with good education and an opportunity to fulfill their calling.

Right now, however, the 23-year-old Willie, already with a bit of experience behind her, has not heard from her parents for more than a year. Emergency lockdowns were initiated with regards to the estate, so until the parents get back, or there is irrefutable proof of their death, Willie and Walt are piss-poor.

This is how Willie ended up at a barge, doing paid exploration without a credit to her name (she was able to secure a large pack of equipment, fortunately), and Walt was able to secure a musician's job back on Naboo, so that he can inform Willie about any possible updates with regards to their parents.

Finding something bigger than his father.
