She grew up around busy spaceports where broken ships and desperate crews were part of everyday life. While other children dreamed of becoming heroes, she learned how to keep worn out engines running with whatever parts she could find. Her talent for repairing machinery earned her work in small repair bays, but it also attracted the attention of smugglers and other people who preferred to stay out of sight.
