Background
Linus Cerwynn is as Corellian as they come. Born and raised in the capital city of Coronet, Linus knew from a young age that he wanted to be a part of something greater. After finishing his primary schooling, Linus married his childhood sweetheart and headed off to the CorSec academy. He gradated a year before the end of the Clone Wars and subsequent rise of the Empire. Not long after, his daughter Jessa was born. Following the birth of their first child, Linus and his wife Auren packed up their modest belongings and moved to one of the more family-friendly neighborhoods of Coronet City.
Within a few years, Linus had risen through the ranks of the police organization and become a respected CorSec Investigator. He spent the next seven uneventful years living in relative comfort, though he was far from wealthy. During a seemingly routine smuggling bust, however, the life Linus had spent nearly ten years building for his family would be torn apart in a matter of hours.
Linus and his partner, Corbin Karr, had been tracking a particularly evasive smuggler for several months when they finally secured definitive proof of the criminal's activities. The pair moved in to secure the illegal cargo and arrest the smuggler. The raid went off without a hitch, but within an hour of returning to the CorSec Headquarters, Linus and his partner came under fire. His partner took a shot in the chest and died in Linus' arms as the duo sat on the stairs just outside of the HQ.
Upon returning home later that day, Linus found that the doors to his apartment were blown in and the unit had been sacked. On the table was a single holorecording left by the Hutt who owned the seized cargo from earlier that day. Directly behind the table was the bloodied body of Linus' late wife; Jessa was nowhere to be found.
After his wife's funeral, Linus found yet another holorecording in his apartment. [HUTT] offered him "forgiveness" and promised not to hurt anyone else if Linus would either release or replace the pilot he had imprisoned.
Motivation
Moral ~ Despite his current profession, Linus has no love for the criminal dealings of the galaxy at large. He reluctantly follows his crew's leads, although there are some lines he simply will not cross. Specifically, Linus is sure he will NEVER engage in any form of human (or alien) trafficking.
Beating the Odds ~ Linus aims to push himself and enjoys a challenge. He often finds himself in situations that he is barely able to get out of on his own. While some may call his plans irresponsible, he prefers to describe them as "calulated risks."
Obligations
Family ~ Linus feels guilty for the loss of his family and partner. In his hopelessness, he accepted the Hutt crime boss's offer and filled in for the imprisoned smuggler himself. He feels the only way to ensure the safety of his family, as well as that of the galaxy, is to supervise operations on his own.
