Full Story
Kadrax was born on Iridonia in 4 ABY. His parents were veterans of the Galactic Civil War, his father Duvor was a soldier for the Iridonian Defense Force, and his mother Kati was a smuggler for the Rebellion. He also had an older brother named Xotru. His mother died when he was young, on a mission for the fledgling New Republic. Because of this, Duvor grew very protective of his sons, never allowing them to leave the system.
Growing up, Kadrax and Xotru, under the orders of their father, trained in the Zabranian martial art K'thri, in which Duvor was a grandmaster and a local legend. Kadrax excelled at the sport, but was always bested by Xotru. While Duvor would try to hide it, Xotru was clearly his favorite. As time wore on, Xotru grew more arrogant, and Kadrax more furious. As Xotru grew lax in his training, Kadrax intensified his.
One day, at age 17, Kadrax challenged Xotru for the title of Grandmaster, yet again. But this time, things were different. Kadrax clearly had the upper hand early into the fight. Xotru tried to surrender, but Kadrax would not relent. Kadrax released years of rage within seconds. In his fury, he felt a dark presence overcome him, strengthening him. Xotru's career was ended that night. Duvor was mortified. While surrendering in K'thri was certainly shameful, attacking a surrendering opponent was disgraceful. In a single night, Kadrax not only brought shame to himself, but his father and brother too. Duvor disowned his son.
Nowhere to go but away, Kadrax gathered his belongings and traveled the galaxy, in search of answers and purpose. Kadrax was afraid of what he felt during the fight. He felt he wasn't in control.
Kadrax eventually found himself on Dantooine, in a farming village on the Khoonda Plains. Soon after his arrival, the village found itself under attack from a pack of Voritor Lizards. Kadrax joined the villagers in fending off the lizards. During the fight, Kadrax again felt the pull of the dark side but was able to fend it off, instead channeling the light side. After the fight, a village elder named Sion Temarch introduced himself to Kadrax. He had first moved to Dantooine during the Galactic Civil War to study the ruins of an Ancient Jedi Temple. He believed what he had witnessed Kadrax channel in the fight was the force and advised Kadrax to seek training at the New Jedi Order's temple on Yavin 4.
Motivation
In the New Jedi Order, Kadrax hopes to redeem himself for his previous sins and learn more about the dark presence he felt that fateful night. He hopes he can reconcile himself with his family.
