Background
Born in 14 BBY on Bothawui, Val Griv'ir grew up in the Rebellion, as both of her parents were Rebel spies. As a child, Val was always getting into mischief, and would frequently trick other children with cons and scams. Business-minded, she had no interest in following in her parents' footsteps, and after the Battle of Endor she struck out on her own to make her fortune in the galaxy.
Frequently running into trouble with local authorities when she tried to swindle people with her snake oil sales pitches, Val eventually made it to Nar Shaddaa, where she finally ran afoul of the wrong people - the Hutts. She escaped their wrath by signing on with Halcyon Transport Solutions as a hand on the Rambler. Her obsession with profit often frustrates the captain, Janica Halcyon, but Janica suspects that buried beneath her is a heart that cares for more than credits, so she's allowed to stick around.
Val has also dipped her toes into occasional thievery - one job involved robbing Black Sun Crime boss Voth D'vassaohrk. The pay wasn't much, but Val managed to swipe a strange, small blue cube which she continues to hold on to.
Motivation
Val is greedy and sees profit in any opportunity. She often feels a compulsion to pursue the smell of credits, even at her own expense or at the expense of those around her.
Obligations
The Black Sun crime boss Voth D'vassaohrk is out for Val's blood, and has dispatched men to find and kill her. The bounty on her head is 10,000 credits. The Kovoma kajidic also has a 2,000 credit bounty on her head. As a result, Val makes frequent use of disguises and assumed identities while on the fringe.
