Weapons & Armor

DDC-MR6 MODULAR RIFLE
A modular rifle that the Drearian Defense Conglomerate designed for the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars, the MR6 comes with an electromagnetic rail system that enables the user to reconfigure the weapon quickly for different situations. The "rails" (actually electromagnetic strips along the body of the rifle) allow a user to quickly swap attachments even in the heat of battle. Due to the high cost of the weapon, the Seperatists never purchased more than an experimental manufacturing run before moving on to cheaper alternatives. Nontheless, a few of these rare guns remain in circulation, in the hands of collectors or mercenaries who need a versatile weapon that fulfills a wide variety of needs.

A character may make an Average (◆◆) Mechanics check to add or remove an attachment to a DDC-MR6 as an action rather than spending the usual time required to remove attachment (see Removing Attachments, on page 93).

Ascension Gun (The user can fire the ascension gun at an anchor point within medium tange with an Easy (◆) Ranged (light) or Coordination check. At the GM's discretion, aiming for a precise placement or attaching a grapnel to certain surfaces might add one or more ■ to the check,, Once the grapnel is in place, the wearer can activate the repulsor field to ascend one range band towards it every round. - Boost to fire mod installed, speed of ascention mod installed)
Weapon Sling (1 Quality (Cumbersome -1) Mods - Quickdraw mod installed)

ARMORED CLOTHING
Edge of the Empire: This category of armor covers light vests, jackets, or pants plated with plastoid or ceramic pads, sometimes with mesh energy-dispersion layers. This armor type is very light but covers the most important vital organs. These plates are mostly undetectable as long as the clothing is reasonably bulky. An Average (◆◆) Perception check detects that a person's clothing is plated.

However, the plates woven into the fabric do not just provide absorption against blows, they also serve to deflect some shots away from vital areas entirely.

Personal Gear

MULTI-TOOL HAND
Multi-tool hands are basic cybernetic hands equipped with a suite of basic tools. Marketed primarily to mechanics, engineers, and hobbyists, these hands contain a small spotlight and a surprising number of tools and accessories that can handle most light repair and maintenance jobs. In a pinch, a multi-tool hand can also be used to sabotage a piece of equipment or to help the user escape from confinement.

Rarity: 4
Price: 650
Type: Cybernetics

Features:
A multi-tool hand provides all the benefits of a tool kit (see page 198 of Age of Rebellion Core Rulebook).

REGALIS ENGINEERING "BREAKER" HEAVY HYDROSPANNER
Built by Regalis Engineering, the Breaker is a massive, long-handled hydrospanner nearly a meter long. It is built of heavy reinforced alloys and has a forged, hydraulic, assisted head that can be adjusted to fit most common fasteners. The long handle allows for the application of extra leverage on a stuck fastener, and the tool's sturdy build prevents stripping, warping, and breaking. Most fie ld mechanics keep at least one Breaker in their toolbox and use it for more than just snapping off bolts and reattaching plating.

Using a Breaker adds an automatic ω to Mechanics checks. When used as a weapon, a Breaker heavy hydrospanner has the following profile: Melee; Damage + 2; Critical 4; Range (Engaged); Cumbersome 3, Disorient 1, Inaccurate 1.

Encumbrance: 3
Rarity: 2
Price: 250
Type: Tools/Electronics

Features:
Adds ω to Mechanics checks.
May be used as a weapon.

RESTRAINING BOLT
Edge of the Empire: Restraining bolts serve the same function on droids as restraints do on other sentients. Once affixed to a droid, the bolts can override their programming. The simplest setting shuts the droid down, but restraining bolts can also force droids to perform any actions they are commanded to do by the person holding the restraining bolt controller. Standard restraining bolts are produced by the billions by companies like Industrial Automation.

Rarity: 0
Price: 35
Type: Security/Espionage

Features:
PC droids may make a Daunting (◆◆◆◆) Discipline check to ignore effects of the restraining bolt

DATAPAD
Edge of the Empire: Datapads are common on most technologically civilized planets, and are used to record, store, display, and organize almost any kind of data from basic text to holographic recordings. Most come with a small display screen, though some use holoprojectors and are small enough to be easily carried in one or two hands, depending on the model. They are commonly encoded or encrypted so that only the actual owner can operate them; some are even set to wipe all data if unauthorized users attempt access.

MODULAR BACKPACK
The convenient Mk. IV Modular Backpack is manufactured by Creshaldyne Industries and marketed almost exclusively to military and governmental forces. Designed with scouts, reconnaissance troopers, and explorers in mind, these backpacks are large and sturdy, made from weatherproof textiles and equipped with an internal frame to help support the weight of the load carried. The backpack has one large compartment with four smaller compartments on the exterior. Each compartment can be sealed and unsealed quickly with a specially designed, silent tear-away textile sealer that keeps the contents of the backpack safe, secure, and dry. What makes this backpack unique is the number of different pouches that can be purchased and attached to the exterior by way of Creshaldyne's proprietary modular quick-release system. This allows the user to customize his backpack for the job at hand, adding extra pouches for contents like ammunition, optical equipment, or specialized hunting gear.

The Mk. IV Modular Backpack increases the user's encumbrance threshold by 3, plus an additional 1 point of encumbrance threshold for each accessory pouch to a maximum of 3.

Background

On CT-1010's third mission, on a remote planet, his company was hit by a deadly virus. It killed a full third of the company. We still do not know why some clones were infected, yet others seemed immune. CT-1010 was the only one that contracted the virus that survived, and his body still bears the signs of the infection. He lost his left arm, and and right eye. His body was left weakened, and his hair and beard whitened.

CT-1010 spent months in recovery in an emergency sickbay set up in an overtaken Separatist base. While his comrades bravely fought on, CT-1010 spent these months studying. He first thumbed through some abandoned Separatist droid operating manuals. Seeing the tactical potential in learning more about droids, he started studying mechanics and computers at every chance he got. CT-1010 eventually recovered, and thanks to cybernetics, and hard physical therapy was able to join his brothers in battle once again.

Command eventually got better at discovering and planning environmental dangers like this, but the fate of those first unlucky soldiers stand out as a grim reminder to the rest of the army. For his surviving brothers, none stood out more than CT-1010. They didn't mean to isolate him, but they did. Call it survivors guilt, or fear of the unknown. They withdrew as he tried to move closer, and he eventually let himself be isolated.

He did have one moment of triumph though. While their company acted as backup for the 312th company, under Jedi master Ko'Bal. CT-1010 managed to hack a droid controller and sent batch of disabled Battle droids back to attack their own base. After that, CT-1010 was nicknamed "Binary".

Master Ko'Bal recruited "Binary" as a part of his own squad.

Under Master Ko'Bal, "Binary" was given every opportunity to indulge in his new found interest, and explore what the General called "Creative Tactics".
