Background
Malaki was formerly a street thug for hire. He ran a crew of ruffians who, for the right price, would acquire items, or "take care" of enemies of their employer of the day.
The problem was that Malaki was more interested in finding and keeping items he came across. Now this in and of itself wasn't so bad, but he didn't share with his crew. Eventually they got tired of working for someone who didn't pay equitably and they all quit on him.
Well... for that reason and for his peculiar habit of talking to animals. He seemed to befriend creatures, big and small. This behavior was just a bit too odd to his crew. One former member of Malaki's crew swears he saw Malaki singing in the morning sunshine as birds fluttered and small woodland creatures frolicked around him. It was very unnerving.
Motivation
Malaki is driven by his urges to collect things. Trinkets, things of little value, things of great value... no matter. He doesn't always have a need for them other than the need to have them in his collections. Discovery is his main motivation.
Morality
Malaki possesses the Emotional Strength of Enthusiasm. This is most noticeable in his pursuit of collections. There is often nothing he wouldn't do to obtain the latest object of his desire.
This rides hand-in-hand with his Emotional Weakness of recklessness. Malaki rides the line between Light and Dark. He is generally a good being, but will do dark things to achieve his goals. In his past life he would do jobs for anyone who hired. To him there are no absolutes. That said, there are lines even he won't cross.
