Background
Born and raised on Mandalore nearly a decade before the Clone War, Cyrus was brought up within a clan of modest size and influence. Clan Oriss being one of the many traditionalist clans, still on dwelling Mandalore, even though the New Mandalorians of Sundari had claimed to rule over all the ancient and battle scarred world, this was more in name than in practice.
Cyrus was raised mostly by his mother, alongside his sister Shae. He had rather little contact with his father when he was young, as his father was one of many Mandalorian warriors who were recruited to help prepare and train the then secret Clone Army that would soon become the core of the Republic military in the Clone War.
During the Clone War, only then did he see his father more often, as on several occasions did his Father bring both Cyrus and Shae along back to Kamino to try and uphold some of the responsibility that he had to train his children. There they would train alongside some of the young Clone cadets, under the supervision of their father.
Near the End of the war, Mandalore was rocked by civil unrest turn civil war. It was in this time, that Cyrus’ mother began to take up more responsibility, and eventually led Clan Oriss into the battles during the civil war. Cyrus being to young still to go off into combat on the front lines, he quickly showed a knack for assisting the the doctors and medics within his Clan. It was once he was in his middle teens, did he first see action on the frontline, though not until the later half the of the Mandalorian Civil War.
No matter how fiercely they resisted, Clan Oriss and other Traditionalist Clans in order to prevent total destruction, had to yield to the Imperial Military, and their turncoat Mandalorian lap dogs. With this surrender, the clans that had not given in to the Imperials early on, were stripped on much of their land that and assets was usable to support a war effort, most insultingly off all, Clan Oriss lost a beskar mine that had been within the Clan’s possession for countless generations.
Cyrus spent some time on Mandalore after the end of the conflict, helping in the rebuilding effort, but like many young Mandalorians of the past, he eventually left his war torn homeworld, and sought employment as a mercenary and bounty hunter. Within this span, he saw seen some action all across the Outer Rim, mostly in the employ of local governments, assisting in fighting off pirate bands, and raiders from Wild Space.
Even though the Clone War had long been over, and many of the Mandalorians whom had been in service as trainers had either been integrated into the Imperial Military, or had been “dealt with” in the Imperial fashion, none within Clan Oriss knew of the fate of Cyrus’ father. Many believe that he had escaped Imperial detainment, and had gone into hiding, abandoning his responsibility to his clan. It was during this time as a mercenary, that Cyrus began to resent his father more and more, fully believing that he had abandoned his Clan.
Although, he knew there were many groups that sought to stand up against, the Empire, it wasn’t until one of his Clan whom also had left home to become a mercenary had approached him, and asked if he would join him in seeking out the Rebel Alliance. Having spent most of his time as a mercenary, fighting for those that paid him, the idea of fighting for a cause was an alluring one.
Cyrus, like many Mandalorians has little fondness for the Republic, however, the Rebel cause to fight back against the Empire, against tyranny was enough to get him to follow his clansmen into the service of the Alliance. He had seen the might of the Empire, and how its wealth could twist brother against brother, seeing the traitorous Clans bow to the Empire, and discard their culture all for titles and land. That was enough for him to fight alongside any within the Alliance.
Motivation
Motivation: Family/Clan
As a Mandalorian, Cyrus believes that one must to the utmost to help their clan, and he sees this service in the Alliance as just that. Every battle fought away from Mandalore, is another chance for Mandalore and Clan Oriss to rebuild, to recover, to someday revolt.
Duties
Duty: Loss Prevention (5)
Having experience waging a brutal war before, Cyrus understands the importance of keeping as many soldiers able to fight as possible. His job as a medic is to ensure as many get off the battlefield as possible, even if he has to drag them from no man's land himself.
Obligation: Betrayal (10)
Within the Vode be Kote (Brothers of Glory), Cyrus was the favored candidate to someday take command of the mercenary band. However, a fellow mercenary by the name of Talkisir Kel, one that Cyrus would have considered a close ally, a brother even, shot him in the back and left him for dead. Adding insult to injury, Talkisir took Cyrus’ ancestral armor, taking it as a trophy.
Description
Cyrus is a human of athletic build, standing just a hair over 180cm tall, and weighing in at roughly 80kg. His skin is pale, and his hair a silvery-white, displaying the Echani blood present in his ancestry. His eyes are a bright, near iridescent amber-yellow, showing yet another hint of alien ancestry. He bears several prominent scars on his face, and many more present along his body.
He is almost always seen wearing his armor, a set of well worn laminate armor, a set that is blatantly Mandalorian in style. Several of the pieces, most notably the right shoulder guard, and helmet are from another, much older set of beskar armor. A prominent Mythasaur skull is painted on the beskar shoulder-guard, bearing scar marks akin to the ones on his own face. In situations were full armor is not allowed, he will often be seen wearing that lone beskar shoulder-guard. To him, his armor is like a second skin, and he feels near naked without it.
Personality:
Like many Mandalorians, Cyrus appears distant and cold to those he doesn’t know well, but this is simply a guard against danger. In reality, he is fairly friendly, though not the most talkative, he is more than welcoming to those he views as competent and honest.
